Synopsis

After years of grief and emptiness, Galiena Mercer is not seeking another husband. She's already been a wife, and she can't risk her heart again. But Fate has other plans when she accidentally overhears a treasonous plot to kill the heir to King Edward's throne. Worse, she is discovered by the plotters. Her only immediate means of escape is to run into a crowd and then, into the arms of a stranger. But the burly Viking with a jovial smile and ice-blue eyes doesn't seem to understand that the ruse was meant to end once she escaped the killer's sight.
Red Algarssen is looking for vengeance, not a wife. But when a terrified raven-haired beauty with silver eyes flings herself into his arms and calls him her husband, what is he to do but step into the role? He decides to follow her and make sure she is safe, especially when he realizes the killer he seeks is the same man pursuing Galiena, who holds proof of plan to murder the prince.
