Extended Epilogue

Luna

Two Years Later

THE HOUSE IS STILL a construction site, but it’s coming along slowly. We have walls now, and soon we’ll have floors. We’re in the final stretch, which is a good thing, given we’re running out of time.

I plant my hand on my stomach, and the baby kicks. So long as he waits until we can move in, everything will be fine.

Part of me will miss the clubhouse. I like the noise, parties, and the fact that people are always around. But my friends are in the neighborhood, and our little one deserves more space and a room of his own.

That, and the last thing I need is club antics waking up a sleeping baby. If I want to party with my man, I’ll just get a sitter.

Behind me, I hear the rumbling of a motorcycle approaching, and I look over my shoulder to see Ghost riding toward me. I miss riding on the back of his bike and can’t wait until the baby is born. Then we can get back to our monthly date nights where we just drive and spend time together.

Tempe has already offered to babysit. She says it’s the least she can do when I’m always the first to offer to help with Austin and Ember.

Ghost hops off his bike, looking too damn good wearing a helmet and leather. He’s a walking distraction as he comes toward me, and I wonder for the millionth time how I got so lucky that I get to call him mine.

“How’s our little owl doing today?” Ghost stops in front of me, resting his hands on either side of my stomach as he kisses me on the forehead.

“Rolling around on top of my bladder.”

He grins, leaning down to whisper to the baby, “Troublemaker.”

“Takes after his daddy.”

Ghost smirks. “If it will make you feel better, I’ll lie down and you can roll around on top of me.”

“I’m sure you wouldn’t mind that one bit.” I roll my eyes, but I can’t bite back my smile.

“Nope.” He tucks my hair behind my ear, glancing up at the house. “Did you go inside yet?”

“You told me to wait out here.”

“And you listened?” He hitches an eyebrow, and I nod. “Good girl.”

“Why are we here anyway?” I ask as he laces his fingers through mine and guides me to the front door. “I thought nothing got done this week.”

“Nothing on your long list of demands for the contractor.” He kisses the back of my hand.

“You make me sound difficult.”

“Not at all, beautiful. I want this to be your dream home.”

“So, if it’s nothing on the list, what did you do?”

He hums. “You’ll see.”

Ghost leads me into the house, and it looks the same as it did last time I was here. But I still glance around, expecting something to be different.

He guides me to a room in the back of the house where I plan on setting up my gaming station, and when we step inside, I see all the walls have been peeled back.

“You’re deconstructing?” I laugh when I see the mess.

“Exactly.” He spins me in his arms so that I’m facing him.

“Do you realize this is the opposite of what you’re supposed to be doing? This baby isn’t staying in forever.”

“Don’t worry, the contractor said it’s not pushing back any of your deadlines. And this had to be done.”

“Oh yeah? Why?”

“You know the club comes first.” He rubs the sides of my stomach. “It’s how I’ll provide for us and the reason we have the family we do today.”

“I know.” I rest my palm on his cheek. “I never question that. And I’d never ask you to give any of that up for me. This isn’t an either-or, Marcus. I understand what you do for the club, and so will our baby boy.”

“You’re amazing. Have I told you that?” He grabs the back of my neck and dips down for a kiss. “And I appreciate you for everything you said. More than you know. But that’s not why I was saying what I was, Luna. I know you’d never ask me to choose.”

“Then what were you talking about?”

“The club already takes me away more than I’d like, so when I’m here, I want to be here with you.” He rubs my stomach. “I’m not missing my baby’s life or being an absent father. We both grew up with the effects of that, and I swear our baby’s not going to suffer for our mistakes like we suffered for theirs. We’re giving our children every minute we can. And I’m giving them all my love.”

“You’re a good man, Marcus. And I already know you’ll do everything you can.”

“I’m only a good man because I have a good woman.” He grins, brushing his lips over mine. “Which is why I had to make a few changes.”

“Like removing walls?”

Ghost steps back, waving his arms out. “Exactly. When I’m home, I want to be here. So if I have to be locked in my office doing work for the club, I’d rather it be in our home than the fucking clubhouse.”

Glancing around at all the wires, I realize what he’s saying. “You’re moving your office in here?”

“It depends if you’re okay sharing it with me.”

I reach for his hands. “I never mind sharing, but how will that work? Isn’t it a security issue for the club?”

“It’ll be the same as it works at the clubhouse. The system here will mirror the one there, so it won’t matter where I am. Plus, I’ve been passing off a lot of the day-to-day responsibilities to the new guys. They know where to find me if they need me. If Steel can come home every night, then so can I.”

“I guess you’re right.” I’ve never thought about it that way.

Steel makes sure he’s there for his family, and I love Ghost even more for wanting to do the same for us.

“So, what do you think? You going to split the gaming space with me?”

I glance around the room. “Seems like I don’t have a choice.”

“Walls are still off. I can have them come back and take it out.”

Grabbing him by the cut, I pull him to me. “Don’t you dare.”

He nips at my lower lip, grinning. “I’ll make it worth your while.”

“Is that so?”

“Yep, now let’s get you back to the clubhouse so I can put you to bed and get started.”

“Ghost.” I squeal as he reaches behind me and grabs my ass. “You’re insatiable.”

“Because I’m married to you, Mrs. Jasper. I’d have to be dead not to be.”

“You’re a sight for sore eyes yourself, Marcus.” I lift off my heels to kiss him.

And I love that he’s mine.
