CHAPTER 2

" L isten up, boys!" Hunter shouts and the crowd simmers down. It's Friday night and everyone's hyped up and ready to party. "Tonight is our social with the Gamma Zs!" We all erupt with cheers and whistles. Chase turns and gives me a fist bump. The Gammas are our sister sorority, and apparently they're supposed to be the hottest girls on campus, so the guys are more excited than usual.

"As I'm sure most of you have heard," Hunter continues, settling the crowd. "These girls are our sister sorority. They're also known as the beauties of campus. The cream of the crop. Which makes us some lucky motherfuckers!" Another round of shouts and applause echo throughout the room. "And tonight, we're going to show these girls a good time, aren't we?" More applause and hell yeahs ring out. It's like being at our homecoming pep rally. "To all you new pledges, tonight will be your final initiation. We want you to show us what you're made of. There are going to be a lot of pretty ladies here tonight, and we want to see that you have a set of balls. It's time to prove that you're Omega Chi material." When Hunter's eyes land on me, the message is clear. If I want to be a brother, I better show them I have what it takes.

"So tonight, your job is to secure yourself a date. And don't give me some bullshit about having a girlfriend back home." He rolls his eyes. "It's time to cut the umbilical cords, gentlemen, and experience what college is all about: sex and parties!"

The crowd goes wild again, but I'm not as eager to join in. Hunter's comment is rubbing me the wrong way. He should respect those who have committed relationships and make those guys do something else for their initiation. Thankfully, I'm single and don't have to worry about it, but I know a few guys who aren't, Chase being one of them. He and Ruby may have just started dating last year, but I know how serious they are, so there's no way Chase is cutting the chord.

"Your big brother is going to be keeping an eye on you tonight. He'll be making sure you don't wimp out on your task. If he sees you slacking on the job, he'll pick a girl out for you. And if you fail to lock it down, you'll be reporting to me, then I'll be deciding if you truly have what it takes to be an Omega Chi."

As much as I'm not a fan of asking out a random girl I know nothing about, I don't want to find myself on the chopping block tonight. Unlike the other guys, I'm not here because my father is a legacy or because my parents are loaded with money. I'm here because the guys saw some pretty girls ask me directions during Greek week, and now they think I'm a ladies' magnet. So, if I don't make it happen tonight, they'll definitely give me the boot.

Being a member of this fraternity would open up so many doors in my future. The founders are some of the most prestigious men in the world, and they favor their brotherhood. So, having this on my resume makes me a shoo-in for a job, and gives me a foot in the door right when I graduate.

"Now, raise your shot glasses, brothers, and let's have a toast." Everyone holds their glasses up in the air. "We are the Omega Chis! The elite! We're strong! We're confident! We're rich as fuck! And the ladies love us!" Everyone breaks out into hoots and hollers then throws their shots back. "Let's get this party started!"
