Chapter 15

CHAPTER 15

Sienna

" A re you almost ready to go, Cara?" Margot comes barging right into our room as usual. I look up from my book and see her dressed as the Black Widow—a costume so perfectly suited for her. Cara comes walking out of the bathroom and she's dressed identically. It looks like they decided to coordinate their evilness. Considering they're both going as Hunter's dates, it's fitting.

"You look so hot!" Margot says, sounding way too fake with her extra bubbly voice. The plastic smile on her face isn't genuine either. Nothing about the girl is real.

"Wait. I thought you were going as Wonder Woman?"

It looks like they didn't coordinate after all. And it looks like Margot went and stole her "friend's" idea.

"I just thought it would be fun for us to be twins. And since we're both going as Hunter's dates, it will be cute." I think she didn't want Cara to outshine her, and that's why she changed her mind. It's definitely a sexy costume, and with their masks on, they really do look like twins.

"Wait. What? I thought you were going with Chase to the party?" Chase? Chase is bringing his girlfriend Ruby to the party. I honestly can't wait to meet her tonight. She sounds like such an amazing girl. Not like the bitches I'm forced to live with.

"He decided to get back together with his ex-girlfriend." Margot shakes her head. "So Hunter told me I should just come with you guys instead."

That is complete bullshit. Chase was always planning on taking Ruby. Matt told me he bought her a plane ticket weeks ago. And they never broke up. In fact, Matt told me that Chase might be popping the question tonight.

"So, when did you find out you weren't going with him?" Cara asks.

I actually feel sorry for Cara. The girl is so desperate to be accepted that she puts up with everything. When I told my therapist about Cara's sudden personality change toward me, she helped open my eyes to the truth. Cara may have liked me at the beginning, but as soon as the others were against me, she chose to follow the pack. Knowing that makes it easier for me to live with the girl. Although, I'm starting to think this situation isn't very healthy for me to be in.

"This morning," Margot says.

"Really?" I ask. "When I ran into Matt at the library a couple weeks ago, he mentioned you coming with your brother." I should've kept my mouth shut and just stayed out of it, but once again, I hate that Cara's being blatantly lied to.

Margot's eyes flare. She knows she's been caught in a lie. But…in true Margot fashion, she deflects.

"Matt obviously didn't have his facts straight, and probably assumed as much. Now, I didn't see anyone talking to you, so why don't you see your way out of our conversation, loser."

Her cruel words no longer stick like they used to. My therapist told me that someone who feels the need to attack others is usually suffering from their own insecurities. Based on how I treated Lexie back in high school, I know that to be the truth. And now I know that Margot is battling her own issues.

"You're welcome to call me any name you want, Margot, but I know you're lying." I turn toward Cara, trying one last time to help her see the truth. "If you don't believe me, you should just ask Chase at the party tonight. He's the one who will tell you whether or not he ever asked Margot to be his date for the party."

"I am not lying, you little bitch," Margot huffs. "Come on, Cara. Let's go. She's just jealous she didn't get an invitation and now she's trying to stir up drama." Margot locks arms with her then turns. "Have fun sitting in your room alone tonight, loser."

I truly feel sorry for them. Both are living in denial. But if I'm being honest, I can't wait to see Margot's reaction when she sees me at the party. I just wish I could tell her that it was my boyfriend who invited me. I'm certain it would be a hard pill for her to swallow, knowing that I'm the one Matt chose.
