Chapter 9
Zane
L achlan recoils in horror as we fly through the doors in a wall of fur, feathers and scales, fire shooting from Victor and Wyn to light him up before he knows what’s happening. Fenris jumps forward in a flash of sparking, silver claws, swiping at Lachlan, who turns his wrath on Aurora.
Screaming, he curses at her, the sound infuriating me, but my dark, falcon eyes dart toward her, wings protectively swooping down to shield her from any stray debris as the others attack.
“NO!” Lachlan screeches, struggling to shift into his dragon body, but it’s too late, his betrayal exposed to his pack and us.
We drag the traitor outside.
Flames lick at him as he waves his arms in terror, swinging wildly to last out at anyone around, but the effort is beyond futile. He is dying where he stands, but our collective fury is just beginning.
My brothers and the other Alphas take turns swiping, biting and burning at him as I stand protectively, shielding Aurora from the trauma of blood and gore.
My wings expand wider as Aurora trembles wildly beneath me. Victor and Wyn unload another fireball on Lachlan, and he howls wildly. Fenris pounces onto his smoldering back, bringing him to the ground, and the last of Lachlan’s life slips away, before our eyes.
Lachlan’s last breath increases my heart rate, the wheezing gasp fueling the yank in my chest.
“Zane?” Aurora gasps, her voice trembling as I slowly lower my wings.
A tightness grips my chest as a brilliant glow emanates from our hearts, spreading outward like liquid gold. The light pulses in rhythm with our now-synchronized heartbeats, connecting us in a way that transcends the physical.
Victor and Fenris halt mid-stride, their gazes snapping toward us. Their forms pivot, and a golden halo ignites from their chests, pulsating through fur and scales alike. The glow resonates with mine, like an unspoken vow binding us together. Above, the sky comes alive as shooting stars streak across the heavens, nature itself acknowledging the power of our bond.
The air vibrates with energy, a raw, magnetic pull between us that intensifies with each passing moment. It’s as though an invisible thread is tightening, drawing us closer with a force that can’t be denied. I can feel their thoughts merging with mine, an immediate telepathic connection sparking to life. Every beat of our hearts drums out the same unspoken truth: this bond comes above all else.
Heat flares through me, a primal fire awakening that demands to be answered. The bond snaps fully into place, and in that instant, I know there is nothing we wouldn’t do for each other—for Aurora.
“They’re mates!” Rex calls out, shifting back into his human form, a wide, shocked grin forming over his face.
We all transform back into our human forms.
“Let’s give them some privacy,” Wyn suggests, gathering Lachlan’s body to take care of the remains.
Unable to speak, I can only stare in wonderment at Aurora as she searches our faces, her breaths still synching with ours, the telepathy rushing through in a torrent between us.
Can you hear me? Is this real? Aurora asks.
You’re our mate, Little Prey, Fenris answers.
I think it will take us all some time to get used to speaking in each other’s minds, rather than needing to use words.
I brush my fingers over her awe-struck cheeks and pull her close, brushing my lips against her, eager to taste her as my mate now, the succulence of her lips that much more delicious now that I understand she’s meant to be with us.
Her arms eagerly encircle my neck, and her naked body slips up against me as Victor and Fenris close in around us, the four of us solidifying our union.
“You were always meant to be here,” I murmur, pulling back to look at her. Fenris cups her breasts from behind, raining kisses over her neck and shoulders, and Victor brushes her hair aside.
“That’s how you were able to enter the town. You were always our mate,” Victor concedes.
“But how?” she mumbles. “I don’t understand.”
“It might have been a hex gone awry,” Fenris suggests. “From all the time you spent in the covens. Or Lachlan may have visited a warlock to have the bond broken? I don’t know.”
Victor kisses her to take the sting from his words. “But it’s fixed now, and you’re where you’re supposed to be.”
All our kisses grow more heated, and we dance Aurora toward a soft patch of grass, laying her down. But she shakes her head, raising herself onto all fours.
Fuck, she’s perfect.
I kneel before her, full and ready, allowing her to take me in her mouth. The tug of my bond only intensifies as she moans, Victor plunging into her from behind.
Fenris’s tongue lolls over the lines of Aurora’s slender back, our movements rocking in perfect synchronicity.
In and out of her mouth I work, floating heavenward, my hands locked in her hair as I savor the sensation of having found our mate, the one who will ultimately bear our children and continue our legacy for years to come.
Her perfect ass raises higher against Victor’s hips, thrusting backwards as I move forward, like a well-oiled machine. Victor’s hand reaches down to spread her wide, placing kisses along her back as Fenris slides below her, and she straddles him, Victor withdrawing himself to let our brother inside her center.
Sweat trickles along the delicate lines of her face, and I wipe her forehead, my eyes locking with hers as she sucks on me harder, bringing me closer to my climax.
Victor sidles behind her. “Can I take you here?” he asks, fingering her asshole.
She nods.
And that’s all the confirmation he needs. He spits on his fingers to lubricate her opening, and we slow down our movements to allow her to adjust. Fenris keeps his hands on her hips, holding her in place as Victor enters her inch by inch.
She chokes on me, as the three of us claim her.
“How does it feel, Little Prey?” Fenris rasps, bucking upward, hard but slow.
She mewls, her hot breath bringing me to where I need to be.
And we move together, all in sync, solidifying this bond that was fated—always meant to be.
I ’m coming! She screams inwardly, her entire body arching like a drawn bow. The sight of her complete surrender triggers our own release, and I smile to myself as I feel my brothers’ power surge with mine.
We peak together, our combined energy rippling through the clearing like a shockwave. The surrounding nature responds to our shared ecstasy—leaves rustling without wind, fireflies dancing in spirals around us.
The magic binding us together pulses with raw power, creating a moment of perfect unity where we’re all one being, one heart, one soul. Her body quivers as waves of pleasure crash over us all.
When we finally float back to earth, the earth settles into peaceful silence around us.
We separate, and Aurora lies boneless in our embrace. The cool blades tickle our skin as we rest, our bodies interwoven, limbs lazily draped across one another.
Everything is exactly as it’s meant to be. Finally. Our mate is where she belongs.
