Epilogue
AURORA
One Year Later
T he full moon rises high above the Texan plains, casting a silver glow over the gathered shifters. A year has passed since I first set foot in Oak Hollow, trembling with uncertainty. But tonight, there’s no trace of that timid girl. I stand beside Victor, Zane, and Fenris, my shoulders back and head high, exuding the calm confidence that’s come to define my place within the Apex pack.
The crowd before us buzzes with life, a mix of packs from across Texas drawn to our full-moon gatherings. It’s different now. When I first arrived, I could barely stand to be noticed. I hid in the shadows, overwhelmed by my own fears and insecurities. Now, I step forward and feel their respect—a respect earned not just as the Apex Alphas’ mate, but as an equal. The energy that once surged wildly in me is now calm.
When the mate bond snapped into place, everything changed. It was as if the final piece of a puzzle had clicked, bringing with it a deep and unshakable sense of balance. Suddenly, the energy settled, along with me. We complete each other in a way that no single shifter could. Our bond brought stability, not just to the four of us, but to the entire territory.
“We’re ready,” Victor murmurs beside me, his voice low and reassuring.
I nod, and together we step forward to address the crowd. There’s a hush as they quiet down, eyes fixed on us with a mix of curiosity and reverence.
“Welcome,” I begin, my voice carrying across the field, stronger than I ever thought it could be. “It’s been an honor to see how far we’ve come together over the past year. This Apex pack is not just bound by blood, but by choice. And tonight, under the full moon, we celebrate that unity.”
The crowd erupts in cheers, and I feel Zane’s hand brush against mine, a quiet reminder that I’m not standing here alone. I glance at him, then at Fenris, who stands slightly back, his gaze watchful but warm.
For a long time, I didn’t know if I could truly belong here. But now, I understand that being an Apex Alpha’s mate is not about fulfilling a role—it’s about embracing who I’ve become and what we’ve built together.
The shifters begin to mingle, laughter and music filling the air. I walk among them, speaking to Alphas from Texas packs, to prey and predator shifters alike. They no longer see me as an outsider who stumbled into their world. I’m Aurora, their Apex Luna, respected in my own right and beloved by the people who call this territory home.
As the night wears on, I make my way back to where Victor, Zane, and Fenris are standing near the bonfire. I reach out and take Fenris’s hand, my fingers lacing with his. It’s not something he would have allowed when I first arrived, but now his grip is strong and reassuring.
His gaze softens when it meets mine. “I can't imagine this place without you now. It feels like you've been a part of us forever.”
Victor steps closer, his hand settling on my lower back in that familiar, comforting way. “And there’s more than just the territory that’s changed,” he murmurs, his voice barely audible over the crackle of the fire. His eyes flick down to my abdomen, and a warmth spreads through me, more powerful than any magic.
I press my hand to the small swell of my belly, my smile widening as joy fills me. “Yes,” I say, meeting his gaze with a tenderness that still feels new, even after all this time. “There’s a lot more to celebrate.”
Zane’s eyes brighten as he steps in, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. “Our little miracles,” he says, his voice full of wonder.
Fenris’s hand moves to rest over mine on my belly. “I can’t believe we are having triplets.”
I glance up at him, my heart swelling with love. “These children will be lucky to have you,” I whisper. “To have all of you.”
The four of us stand there for a moment, wrapped in the glow of the moon and the fire, the air humming softly with the magic that binds us.
As I look around at the shifters gathered under the full moon’s light, I know that this is only the beginning.
Together, we have turned what was once a cruel twist of destiny into something beautiful, and I know we will continue to build a life filled with love, strength, and unity.
