Chapter Forty

EVO

The door no more slides open than Father pops up on the main holo screen. “ EvO , according to ANDI your little mate has quite the background in Fuel Science . I look forward to seeing how she interprets the research we have already obtained.”

“ Father , ANDI informed me earlier that he was carrying the accessories needed to create her lab here on the Destroyer . He said you will be rendezvousing with us shortly.”

“ Yes , I am anxious to speak with the others. SCOUT just sent the last of the atmospheric readings and I believe we have found a habitable moon in the neutral zone between mine and ZoD’s regions that will provide the humans with a safe and happy environment. Kira is also with me, but I am going to take a shuttle over once we are closer. She is staying on board to help prepare for their arrival. ANDI will dry dock with the Destroyer once they decide to proceed, and then we will head to the moon’s location.”

“ Father , I was not aware that we were not delivering them to their new home.”

“ I don’t want the warship to be spotted in the area, it’s for their safety, mostly. ANDI can cloak entirely and right now we need to keep their existence as quiet as possible. Besides Son , I think you’ve done enough.”

“ It’s been quite the adventure, so what are our next orders?”

“ SCOUT is investigating the signals you picked up in that uncharted territory on the other side of the Nebula , but as of right now. I simply want you to fall back into rotation with Falcor . I’m sure the Destroyer could use a drydock to restock and repair anything she has not been able to fix on her own.”

Shockingly at that time, the Destroyer interrupts. “ Captain , Commander DaR . If I am to be drydocked, I have one single request.” Father looks at me and I shrug my shoulders.

“ Proceed Destroyer , we are listening.”

“ I would like my haul name to be changed. While I know it’s not an easy process, it has been done before. When the Banhan built me, I became Destination . Then Captain EvO renamed me the Destroyer . I understand why each of my benefactors have named me according to my new role. However , I want my name to be … Destiny . I would also like to be allowed to take on the program that gives me the holo projection ANDI and the others have. I feel like my programming has evolved to the point I am no longer a machine designed only to destroy, but one that holds a new race’s destiny inside of her for safekeeping.”

Father looks at me with a small smile on his face. “ Well , EvO what do you have to say? It seems that our girl here has a mind of her own.”

“ I have no objections to any of her requests. Except , we will not be implementing any of them until the drydock is complete and the crew changes out. It would simply be too confusing right now.”

“ Thank you, Captain , and you as well, Commander . You may proceed.”

“ Father , since we are requesting things, I have a small one of my own. While the Destroyer is in port, I request several risings off to show Qwin around. She loves the stars and I would like to show her the beauty hiding behind those pretty lights.”

“ Granted . Where are your brothers and Rafe ? I simply assumed ViN would be at the helm with you?”

“ Ember has not been feeling well.” There is no way I am going to be the one to tell Father their good news.

“ She is still not feeling well? Should we be concerned?”

“ I don’t believe it’s anything serious, but you know ViN . He will not take any chances when it comes to Ember . LeX is still busy dealing with the translators and several of the sicker humans. I am beginning to get worried about him though, as he is running himself ragged.”

“ I’ll contact ViN later and tell him to respond when Ember is feeling better. LeX , well we both know how serious he takes his position, so I will wait to speak to him when I come on board. Feel free to resume your duties, EvO . I’ll see you next rising, strength and honor.”

The Holo screen clicks off and I sit down in the main captain’s chair looking out the viewer at all the colors. Pulling up a smaller screen, I scan through the open requests for the other personnel on the ship, then some of the human’s questions. SCOUT’s words replay in my mind the entire time. The little things , that’s what he said they enjoyed the most. That’s when the idea hits me.

I type in the instructions for the things I’ll need to accomplish this and hit send. Smiling , as I know the Destroyer will have the entire thing set up exactly as commanded. Now , all I have to do is wait for my mate to join me.

Over half the darkness has passed with no word from Qwin . Several times, I start to have the Destroyer activate the cameras in our rooms, but I don’t want to invade her privacy like that. Just as my patience has worn out, the door slides open, and in she walks with a huge smile on her face.

“ Hello , handsome. Sorry it took so long, I would have been here an hour ago, but I found Lacie roaming the halls. We started talking, and time got away from me.”

“ I was getting ready to come check on you, I was getting worried. Have you eaten?”

“ Nope , I was waiting on you, but now that you have mentioned it, I’m starved.”

“ Come , I have a surprise for you.” Taking her hand, I maneuver us through a small hall off the side of the Control center, where the fuses and main computer panels are located.

“ EvO , where in the world are you taking us?”

“ A little place few know of.” I know we are getting close when the colors start bouncing off the interior walls. We step into the small area and Qwin gasps, instantly letting go of my hand as she walks carefully out onto the clear floor. From where I am standing, she looks like she is floating in midair.

“ Wow , EvO . Now this is a view. I had no idea that any of the viewers went out and away from the ship like a huge bubble. What is this doing hiding back here?”

“ No one knows its purpose, but there is one on the other side of the ship, in the same location.” The Lord of Light must have felt her excitement because at that exact moment. A comet zips by. It’s tail, a starburst of colors brightening the entire area.

“ Oh , my God ! EvO , did you see that?”

“ Yeah , I am right here.”

“ When I was a kid. I often wondered what it would be like to explore the stars. I wanted to know if they were as bright up close as they were far away. It was clear to me that there was much more out there than just us. Whole other solar systems and galaxies full of beauties I could never imagine, but here I am.”

I can’t look away from her right now. She is so vibrant and alive with that huge smile on her face. Taking her arm in my hand. I gently pull her back some so that she can sit on the large blanket I had the Destroyer deliver to the area. She doesn’t take her eyes off the colors speeding by until I grab one of the pastries, holding it under her nose so that she can smell it.

“ Is that chocolate cake? Where did you get this?”

Before I can say a word, she snatches it out of my hand, moaning out as she rolls her eyes in delight. She mumbles a string of words as she takes another bite. “ Thisissogood .”

“ Remind me to thank Ember for her insight on what you might like as a dessert.” Qwin just nods her head as she takes the last bite. “ I can’t believe you didn’t offer me any of that.”

“ Nope , don’t ever get between a girl and her chocolate.”

“ Good to know.” Chuckling , I start laying out the rest of the dishes between us.

“ This is quite the spread here, mister. If a girl didn’t know better, I would think you were up to something.”

“ Do you like it?”

“ The view is amazing, as always the chocolate was phenomenal, and the company isn’t bad either.”

“ Is that so? You’re not too bad yourself.”

“ I thought you were on duty tonight, not sneaking through secret hallways with a girl.”

“ Have you seen my girl? She is hard to stay away from and I felt like we needed some, us time. The world and all the responsibilities can wait a little longer.”

“ You could spoil a girl doing things like this.”

“ This is just the beginning of the things we are going to do together.” I reach over, tracing her bottom lip where there is a small smudge of chocolate left. Leaning over her, I lick the crumb, then smack my lips together. “ Delicious .” She giggles.

“ I told you it’s amazing.”

“ I wasn’t talking about chocolate.”

“ Ohh .”

The space I have been trying to give to her all this time has evaporated, and nothing is going to stop me from holding her in my arms. Pushing the other plates out of the way, I tug her onto my lap. My hands sink into her lush dark brown locks. Amber eyes stare up at me mischievously. Her pale cheeks, that are dotted with small brown specks are now flushed.

Gently , I tug her forward my lips seeking hers. It starts slowly with a few tender nibbles, but quickly escalates into so much more as my hand on her lower back pulls her closer. I can smell her desire when I caress her breast through the garment she has on. My lips crash against hers when I hear a small moan leave her lips. This human kiss is demanding and hungry, but tender and passionate all at the same time, as I try to relay my feeling for her in every touch.

Qwin responds, wrapping her tiny arms around my neck as I pull her legs around my waist so that she is straddling me. Hating the material separating her body from my touch. My fingers find the edge of her shirt and I begin lifting it up slowly. Separating our lips only long enough to slip it over her head. My hands grasp her plentiful breasts that are barely being contained within their lacy confines. Pulling the material up to free them. I bury my head within their softness.

My hardened shaft practically bursts with her unique smell. Her little body wiggles in pleasure when my lips move from one breast to the next. Her fingers grasp my hair as I maneuver us over to the thick blanket I had spread on the floor. Straightening Qwin’s legs out so that she is now laying fully upon me. I thought I was in control of this situation until Qwin decides that is not the case. Qwin’s small hands struggle to remove the clasp of my vest and I sit up long enough to remove it. Tracing the muscles on my chest and stomach, her fingers skim along the head of my shaft peeking through the top of my pants.

“ Your body is beautiful, EvO .” She makes her way down my hard chest and belly with her mouth,

“ Qwin , I never could have dreamed anything could feel this good.” I reach behind her, unclasping the garment holding her breast. Letting it fall to the floor, and I can see the surprise in her eyes. As I almost embarrass myself when I feel her naked skin on mine.

“ I see you have learned a new trick?”

“ I’m a quick study. Little mate, I can’t resist you any longer. Let me make you mine forever.” Her timid smile is all I need when I lift her breasts, which are becoming one of my favorite things, kissing and licking each of them before making my way further down. “ Qwin , behave or this will be over before it begins.”

“ It’s taking all my willpower not to strip you down and thrust into you like an untried youth.” Instead of my words slowing her down, she shocks me by reaching for the buckle holding my pants on. The moment it releases my shaft falls into her hands. My eyes close when she strokes my length from top to bottom. Her tiny fingers teasing every bump and nodule lining my shaft. Qwin wraps her legs around me, pulling me fully into her, a gasp upon her lips as her body stretches to accommodate my size. I make myself stop for a moment to give her time to adjust. Grabbing an extra blanket, I drape it over Qwin’s tiny frame, lying on top of mine. I swear, I can feel the thoughts roaming through her mind as we lay here in the silence. When her body drifts off into a light slumber, my shaft finally softens enough to slide out of her tight channel.

Closing my eyes, I pull her close, enjoying my scent, which is now combined with her own. What a blessing I have been bestowed.

I shake my head when my comm unit starts flashing. I was for sure I had completed everything this rising and would not be needed further. Moving slowly, I hit the comm, “ Report .”

“ Captain , an unknown object, just appeared on radar. It’s shaped similar to the pods, but there are no organics on board.”

“ Intercept it, but don’t bring it on board until you can scan it further.”

“ Confirmed , also Commander DaR will be docking in half a rising.”

“ Thank you, Destroyer .”

“ We simply cannot escape can we?” I smile when Qwin lifts her head up so that she can look at me.

“ They do seem to have a way to find us for sure. Did I hurt you? I got a little rough there towards the end.”

“ Well , let’s just say I am going to know you were there for a couple days, but I am willing to play that game again anytime.” Her mischievous smile has me running my fingers down her side, tickling her as she laughs squirms to get away. When she starts to slide off me, I grab her hip.

“ Ow , damn that hurt?”

Instantly , I roll us over, yanking the covers off so that I can see what has injured her, and my entire body just stops. Tears form in my eyes at the sight before me. In all my years, I never dreamed this was possible.

“ EvO , what is this?” Her fingers trace the raised mark. “ Wait a minute, this looks just like that brand on your back?”

“ It’s a rune, … my rune. Your life … our lives … have been linked together until our last breath. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it could happen? I’ve read it in some of our history books, but I’ve never seen it in person. My research was lacking during the Memory Fasting . I knew there was more that I didn’t understand, now it all makes sense.” Gently , I run my clawed fingertip over the raised skin between her hipbone and her treasure. “ Does it hurt?”

“ A little, but not in the way you would think. I swear it’s like you just rubbed my—”

“ Your what?”

“ You know, it’s sensitive …” She points down. “ Like the one on your back.”

“ Are you being bashful, my little mate? I literally just chewed and licked on your entire body and you won’t actually say where all of a sudden you are overly sensitive.”

Her sudden blush has me laughing out loud, especially when she pulls the covers up over her head. “ Stop it, you’re being a brat, I don’t like to say it.”

“ You never cease to amaze me little one. I will just have to examine you closer until I discover exactly what it’s affecting to make you blush so.” We play tug of war with the blanket until she is all giggles, the sound of her happiness fills the hollow place that was previously in my own. “ My Qwin , as much as I hate to get up, technically I am still on duty. You can stay here for a little longer if you want, though.”

“ Nahh , it’s no fun without you. Anyway , I am curious as to what the Destroyer found.”
