Chapter 24
Lacy
Darkness surrounds me and it’s so hot, I can barely breathe. I’ve been blindfolded and I have no idea where I am, but all I do know is, when I woke up, my body ached and my mouth was dry. My hands and feet are bound together and I am sitting on a very uncomfortable chair.
To my surprise, I was alive. I honestly thought Josh and his goons were going to kill me. When he caused me to blackout, I thought I would never wake up again. That my life was over. I never got to tell Drake I loved him again-- that thought would haunt me forever.
But now, I’m awake and alive. Where, I have no idea.
I can hear the faint sounds of water dripping somewhere and the air is stale and musty. It’s hot, so unbelievably hot, so I must be inside somewhere with no air conditioning.
Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching and Josh’s voice breaks through the silence around me.
He’s arguing with someone and I don’t know who.
“Good morning, princess,” Josh says, as he approaches and removes the black bandanna he used to blindfold me.
My eyes squint and burn as I try to adjust to the natural light filtering through a broken window in front of me.
“Where am I?” I choke out, my voice is scratchy.
“Somewhere safe...for now,” Josh laughs. His head falls back and his eyes glow with happiness. He’s so evil and that evilness radiates all around him now.
“Why? Why are you doing this?” I cry. I no longer need to pretend to be the strong, badass chick I once thought I was. Josh has me now, he has the upper hand now.
“It’s time the Raven’s feel the pain me and my family felt when we lost everything,” Josh seethes.
“You all deserve everything that came to you,” I spit out, disgusted by this scumbag.
Before I know what is happening, Josh reaches out and slaps me across my face. The sting burns my cheek and my eyes fill with tears. The pain radiates throughout my entire body, but it is nothing compared to the anguish I feel knowing that Josh wants to hurt Drake-- and now, I’m playing a role in that plan.
As my head rights itself from my attack, I taste blood inside my mouth. “Well, that is where we disagree. Your boyfriend has until midnight to find you, or I will have my fun with you before I let my guys bury you alive,” he scowls.
“He will find me and the Raven’s will destroy you, just like they did your awful family,” I scream.
If I am going to die, if Josh gets to end my life-- then I will go down fighting. But I have faith that Drake and the Raven’s will find me. Our love is stronger than anything Josh can throw our way. I can just feel it. Drake and I are soul mates, we are connected in a way that allows me to feel his heart, mind, and soul.
Drake is coming for me and I know it. I just hope he finds me before I am dead.
