Chapter Six

Skyla

W hen we get back to Salem, the sun is just starting to rise. I never thought I’d be so grateful to see this small, secret filled, fucked up little town.

The car ride was silent the entire way. I’m not sure if that’s what the guys thought I needed, or maybe it’s what they needed. I don’t really care either way. Every breath I take is like knives being sunk into me, and I have a pounding migraine. The thick barred gate of our house is a welcome sight as Wesley slowly drives through them, parking as close as possible to the front door.

Just as he puts it in park, Liam’s door is opened, and Vincent’s leather-clad arms are reaching for me. I go to him easily, a sense of comfort rolling over me as he cradles me gently, carrying me towards the door. The others follow behind us while Asher jogs ahead to unlock the door.

“Where is that fucking doctor?” Asher fumes under his breath.

My head turns to him as I shake it softly.

“I don’t need a doctor right this second. I’m fine,” I say, my words being cut short with a wince as Vincent begins moving up the staircase.

Asher smacks the back of Vincent’s head.

“Be careful, asshole! You just hurt her.”

Vincent’s crazed eyes come to Asher, giving him a look drenched in murder. Asher ignores it, though, turning his gaze back to me.

“You need a doctor, princess. I’ll go make a quick call,” he says, pressing a featherlight kiss to my cheek before heading out the door.

I can hear Asher’s shouts despite Vincent walking us all the way to the top of the stairs. He keeps going until we’re at Asher’s room before Ronan steps up from behind us, pushing the door open.

Vincent carefully lays me down on the bed before his fingers trace my face. I cringe when they brush where Professor Corwin hit me, and Vincent flinches, forcing himself to take a step back like he’s afraid to hurt me.

“What do you need, Siren?” Vincent asks.

I shake my head in response, and he clenches his jaw as Liam steps into the room, moving past Vincent and Ronan as he rounds the bed. Slowly, he lowers himself down to lay beside me, a soft smile touching his face as his fingers begin playing with my hair.

“Hi, babygirl.”

“Hi.” I smile weakly.

I feel a body sit beside me, and I look over to see Vincent there, hesitantly laying down on my other side. I reach for his hand, interlacing our fingers together before he squeezes them once and brings them to his mouth. His lips press a soft kiss against them before resting back at our sides.

“Doctor will be here in less than five,” Asher says as he steps into the room, coming to take a seat at my feet beside Liam.

Ronan takes the last available seat at my feet as I look around at my guys.

“Thank you. Thank you for…coming for me,” I say slowly, doing my best to find the right words.

“As if there would ever be a reality that I wouldn’t come for you,” Vincent says, pressing a gentle kiss to my lips.

When he pulls away, Liam’s mouth is on mine.

“Same, babygirl.”

I smile at him as Asher leans over, stealing a kiss of his own.

“I’ll always come for you, princess.”

Ronan nods, pressing his lips to mine for several seconds longer than the other guys before resting his forehead against my own.

“I love you so much, baby. I’ll never let you go.”

Emotion tightens my throat, and I glance to see Wesley hanging back awkwardly in the hall. I give him a small smile that he doesn’t return, forcing me to frown. Those deep ocean blue eyes are practically burning two holes into me, his face emotionless and stoic.

Asher pushes to his feet, snarling.

“Stay the fuck away from her!” he snaps before slamming the door in Wesley’s face.

I flinch at the sound of the slam, sadness blooming inside me that he isn’t with us right now. That Asher is so angry with him; they all seem to be.

“Why did you do that?” I ask.

Asher spins to face me, outrage splashed across his face before he composes himself.

“This was all his fault! Corwin never should have been able to touch you, let alone take you.”

I frown at that. “Didn’t he come to save me too?”

“Yeah, after he fucked everything up,” Vincent grumbles.

My eyes come to him for a moment before I shake my head.

“Tonight was no one’s fault besides Professor Corwin’s. Let him in. Now ,” I say, putting extra emphasis when Asher doesn’t move.

His jaw is clenched, as sharp as granite, before he reaches for the doorknob, ripping it open as he shouts down the hall.

“Preston! Get in here!”

It takes a few seconds before Wesley carefully peeks his head inside, his eyes scanning the room before landing on me.

“Do you need something?”

I swallow for a moment, remembering the last memory I have with him. All the feelings I’d been trying to bury, the attraction, the…

“Thank you,” I say softly. “For saving me.”

Wesley opens his mouth but pauses, like he’s rethinking his words, before he closes his mouth and nods. The doorbell rings through the house, and Wesley slips out of the room, making his way down the stairs to answer it.

He comes back upstairs with the doctor, who does a quick exam before determining that my ribs are cracked, not broken.

Yay.

She cleared me of a concussion and wrote me a prescription for pain meds while my ribs heal. She asked me as quietly as she could if there was any reason she should perform a rape kit. The silence was so immediate you would have heard a pin drop in the room. I gave her a quick head shake, relief easing through all of the guys’ shoulders and faces.

Once she left, the guys began fussing over me, asking if I needed more blankets or food or a shower. In reality, all I wanted was sleep, and thankfully, none of them left. They all stayed, surrounding me, even Wesley from the corner as I closed my eyes and sank into a deep sleep.
