CHAPTER 14
Tilly
The noise in the kitchen is deafening when Colm tugs me under his arm, kissing my temple as we watch Adam being congratulated by his brothers and Maya.
“Thank you, love,” Colm whispers to me, blue eyes holding a sheen of tears as he watches his son. “You and your girls have been so good for my boy. Out of all of them, he’s the one that worried me the most with the type of work he did for our family. For a long time, I wondered if he’d ever be happy, and then you arrived. You’ll have my undying gratitude until the end of time for making him smile like that.”
Leaning my head against Colm’s shoulder, I answer so only he can hear, “He did the same for me, and then he gave me all of you. I’ve never been happier in my life.”
Adam turns as if searching for me; his gaze softens when he notices me with his Da, who lets me go when Adam holds out his hand. Taking it, I wrap my arms tight around the man who changed my life with a look and a promise.
Life as an O’Shea was good, and it could only get better because we’d all already lived through our hell, and this was our reward.
