CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

“You okay?” I ask when the meeting ends, and Henry walks out.

He nods, pulling me by the waist and into a quick kiss. “I’m good. Really good.” I look into his beautiful eyes and can immediately see he’s telling me the truth.

We grab our girl, letting Ethan take over, and head to our house. I make a quick dinner, and then we eat. After a quick video chat with my mom and dad, we bathe Hazel and put her down for bed.

We head to the living room to watch some television before bed when he leans into me, kissing me softly and holding my face in his hands the way I love. “So when are you going to ask me to marry you?”

I curse and then laugh because motherfucker, can I not have one secret?

“How did you know this one?”

He laughs at that, kissing my nose and leaning back into the couch. “Saw you looking at rings and venues.”

“Well, fuck.” I move my body behind him, urging him to lie on the couch with my arms around him. I hold onto him and kiss his neck softly. “Now?”

I can feel him smiling. “I’d marry you tonight if Hazel wasn’t already asleep and we didn’t have to get a marriage license to make it legal.”

I grin, kissing him softly when he turns his head to look at me. “Marry me?”

“Yes,” he breathes against my lips.

“I love you.”

“I love you. Thank you for not leaving me.”

“I never will.”

He kisses me gently, turning in my arms and nearly falling off the couch, but I’ve got him.

I always have him. And he’ll always have me.

And so will our girl.
