Everything was going great. I'd found my home and a purpose with a team I trusted as much as I could trust anyone.

We moved in the shadows, saving lives and bringing down the most vile of humanity, sometimes quite permanently.

The problem with working in the shadows was that it only took one person to expose us.

Which was how I found myself protecting Agent Ford Priestley when he was falsely accused by the very agency he worked for. It went against everything in me because all I wanted to do was make myself scarce when it came to the FBI.

He was the last person I wanted to be faced with.

But Ford Priestley knew about the team, and we couldn't risk someone uncovering his link to us if he were caught, so I had no choice but to play bodyguard.

I tried to keep my walls up. I really did. But there's no hiding from your past when the person you're hiding with knows every ugly detail about who you are.

There were only two things in life that made me happy: my bike and cooking.

Yeah, it might have been a kitchen in the back of a bar, but I took pride in every burger and plate of wings I sent out.

Cooking, riding, and the club were the only things that kept me going, which was perfect. Somehow, I'd found a home with the Steel Paragons MC. They'd taken me despite my constant scowl, hermit tendencies, and constant irritation about everything.

It was a simple life, but it was mine.

And it was perfect until she started working there.

She was a thorn in my side with her mischievous smile and glint in her eye that always gave away the fact that she was plotting the next way to mess with me.

My sanctuary had been turned into a nightmare.

And I didn't know if I should take her out on a date or get on my bike and chase the sun until it set on the opposite coast.
