Epilogue

Xander

We didn’t leave my house at all on Saturday, but by Sunday morning, we both needed some fresh air and sunshine. And my ass couldn’t handle another pounding if my life depended on it.

So, we headed out to the park and walked around the lake, watching families play and couples picnic. There was a busker singing love ballads, so we found a bench and cuddled up to listen to her pour her heart out to the passersby.

I rested my head on David’s shoulder as he hummed along to the music. “When does the lease on your place end?”

He chuckled and squeezed me closer to his side. “Two months. Why, you ready for a live-in milkman?”

I wasn’t sure if he was teasing or not, but I was completely serious. “Yeah, I am.” I pulled away and looked him right in the eye, clasping his hand on my knee. “We can drag out this moment for another year, but why would we? I loved waking up in your arms this morning, and I don’t know why I’ve been resistant in the past, but I don’t want to wake up without you any more.”

He swallowed hard as he watched my face and nodded. “Me too.”

“Then let’s do it. Move in with me. Tonight if you want. Or slowly over the next few months. But I want you with me all the time. I love you, David. I’ll always love you. Let’s do this.”

His wet eyes were all the answer I needed, but when a drop fell from his cheek and he nodded, I knew he was with me. For that moment and for our lifetimes. “Let’s do it, Xander. You and me. Forever.”

“Forever.” I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his, keeping it chaste but conveying everything he needed to feel from me. “Now take me home, babe. I’m thirsty.”
