Chapter 7

Suzie

T he evening turned out to be a long one, with all the orders being thrown around by Benjamin. We had to check doors, windows, iris recognition settings, and all the other security measures that were needed to secure Sinclair's building.

We made arrangements that Sinclair would be at our weekly meeting for WAR on Wednesday evening at my home. He seems eager to get involved in ruining reputations.

Holly walks into my kitchen first thing looking like death, I have to say. She's not a morning person at the best of times, but with us being out most the night I can't help the smirk that crosses my face when she throws herself down at the kitchen table, arm out and her head laying on it mumbling, "Coffee, lots and lots of coffee."

Pouring a coffee and placing it in front of Holly, I smirk as she lifts her head enough to see the mug. Picking it up whilst smelling the aroma, and taking a sip, ‘Ahhhhh,' she sighs after she has swallowed.

"Liv? Is she okay?" Holly asks, and I can tell she is so tired she's not remembering that Liv went home.

"Yeah, she's good. She went home to get some sleep. Unlike someone I could mention who crashed on my sofa."

"Oh, shut up. Any news about what happened after we left?"

"Benjamin sent me a text this morning and said that your parents, sister, her husband…" which I say with a sneer, "monster-in-law were all asked to leave after causing drama by shouting at each other in the middle of the room. People were outright gossiping about how they spoke to you." I giggle because I just wish I had been around to see it.

"So, we dented their reputation. I'm more than happy with that." Holly finishes her coffee then pours another, looking like she's waking now that her coffee fix is in place.

"We did more than dent reputations. It seems Clyde was told to clean out his desk and remove himself from his firm. He got the golden boot by his boss, who was sick of the way Car-Lot kept walking into the building and speaking to everyone like dirt. Mr. Hardmaine just got rid of him with a severance package, and told him to move along quickly or he'd not give Clyde a reasonable reference."

"Wow, I didn't expect that, but I know Mr. Hardmaine is family-oriented and he likes his workforce to have the same mindset. Maybe finding out that Clyde was a cheating asshole and causing a drama at the Magical evening was enough to push him over the top," Sighing, Holly looks at me with a smirk. "It seems our plan worked and part one is done. Now we just have to cause Car-Lot and the Monster-in-Law a little trouble and we can call it a WAR success."

"We can discuss it at the WAR meeting and see what we can do about making her life a little uncomfortable. Your parents too. It's going to be fun making sure they realize that their lives will never be quite the same." I hold my hand up and Holly returns the high-five gesture, both of us smirking at the same time.

Wednesday evening and the WAR meeting comes around faster than I would like, but as it's all fun I'm not worried in the least about what is going to be said or suggested.

I lay a few plates of nibbles and grab glasses for water, wine and even beer if Sin… as I'm going to call Sinclair, just in case that's his preferred drink.

Holly walks into the kitchen, picks up a bottle of wine and quickly makes her way to the table, pouring herself a glass and after a large drink she sighs, giving me a smirk. "It's been one heck of a busy day. Oh, did you know Noah and Benjamin were planning to come tonight?"

"No, they said nothing, neither did Slade."

"Slade has gone to look at a job they are considering taking on. So, I'm fairly sure he'll not be here."

Liv walks in after lightly knocking on the door. "Only me, and Sinclair."

"Okay, get a drink and let's get to business." Smirking to myself because I'm ready to get Holly's family done with so we can move on to the next bunch needing to be messed with.

Sitting around the table once Benjamin and Noah have arrived and gotten themselves a drink, and a plate piled high with some of everything I'd put out. We start the meeting and surprise me purple… Benjamin chairs the meeting, which has Holly and Liv giggling, and Sin sitting calmly giving no shit who is holding this meeting.

Noah is looking at me, knowing exactly what I'm thinking, but he has a huge smirk on his face. Sticking my tongue out at him has Benjamin tapping his knuckles on the table to get everyone's attention, but we all know it's for my benefit, in actual fact.

"Okay, let's get this where we want it. Car-Lot is who we want to mess with next. She has a job at the local store working in the office as a customer service manager. How she got the job with her zero personality is beyond me," Benjamin grins.

"Do you think you can keep up, Sin?" I ask, turning to give Sinclair a huge smile.

"Sin?" He questions, but with a smile, and it's a blistering smile that will have ladies' panties dropping to their ankles I'm sure.

"Yeah, you know TDS, tall, dark and scrumptious, all rounds out to sinful, so Sinclair, the sinful is Sin to me from now on." I look at Liv, who bursts out laughing, shaking her head at me at the same time.

"What?" I scowl.

"I love it, but the way you got to it was just hilarious. I mean, look at the man. He could be a high-class model and rule the world with just a smile." Liv is giving Sin a serious look over, and he has an eyebrow raised but is not in the least embarrassed or put out by our comments.

"Come on, let's get back to it. Holly, we want to finish with your family, then we can move on to everyone else. Car-Lot needs to be shown to not be suitable for the job she has. I mean customer service manager, it's laughable." Noah looks at Holly, who shrugs.

"I can do that. I'll go in and cause a fuss, and when she tries to smooth it over, I'll be highly offended by her attitude. I'll give it my business-man going to sue the shit out of them thing." Sin looks from one of us to another, and we all grin, nodding that yeah, we're happy for him to do it.

"Did you hear that Charlie and Winni were blackballed from all charity events in the future?" Liv grins, "I heard it from one of the organizers who I bumped into yesterday."

Holly rears up in her seat, looking at Liv with a sparkle in her eyes. "Really? You sure? Because I'm telling you, if they can't flaunt around making out they are special, it would really have an effect." Clapping her hands with glee, I can't help but giggle.

"Well, what else will bring them down to earth?" Sin asks.

Holly looks at Sin with such a serious look on her face that we all hold our breath. "Who can use a butler? We could steal Stanley away, and it would be a blessing for him. He's been with them for years, and only stayed as he has no family of his own. "

I tap my front tooth with a fingernail as I'm thinking of who could want or afford a butler.

"I can employ him. I have a large house. It would be ideal if he can organize receptions and other things. I purchased the place, so I didn't always have to be at the office. I want to be able to wander around my own home, but be able to hold business meetings if necessary, without having to drive into the city. I have the apartment in town, but I want to keep that as an if ‘necessary place' to stay, rather than a residence." Sin picks up his phone from where he'd placed it on the table, brings up an app and asks for Stanley's details, which Holly gives him with a huge smile on her face.

Liv's phone rings, and picking it up from next to mine on the table, I grin. "Hello, Monksfield Monastery. How can I help you?" I'm proud of the sweet, yet professional way I ask the idiotic question.

"Where is Liv?"

"I'm sorry we don't have any Liv here." Gleefully closing out the call and powering it down. I place it on the table and looking up, everyone is grinning, obviously happy with the way I handled that.

Benjamin takes the lead once more. "Okay, Sin, you collar the butler and tackle Car-Lot. In the meantime, I'm still pulling strings to stop Clyde from getting another job. Our work is nearly done with this crap family. Sorry Holly, but they are the shittiest of families I've ever come across."

"No worries, Benjamin, it's all true, so I'm not going to fuss after you call it as it is."

After the meeting closes, Sin will report back at our next meeting on Sunday, when we'll be going to his home.
