Chapter 15

Suzie

A rriving at the office building, I quickly make my way indoors and to Benjamin's office, where I know Noah and Slade will also be waiting. Holly is hanging onto my arm, looking worried about whatever is about to unfold.

"It'll be okay Holly, I don't give a shit about any of them anymore, and because of that, they don't have the ability to hurt me anymore. They also can do their worst because you know what?"

Holly looks at me questioningly. "What?"

"We have Benjamin, Slade and Noah on our side, but we have Sin too. They are like a wall that nothing can surmount."

Nodding, gaining a smile, and looking at me, Holly laughs. "Yeah, you're right. We have them all on our side."

Walking into the office we were spot on, Noah, Slade, and Benjamin are waiting, but surprisingly so are Sin and Liv, but the latter is looking a little shifty!

"Okay, Suzie, let's see that envelope. The fact they tried to hand it to you tells us they were trying to make it an official handover. Thankfully, you had the sense not to do that, and to take evidence after they pushed it through your mail slot." Benjamin holds his hand out, and I'm not going to lie about it, I'm more than happy to pass it over to him.

Once opened, Benjamin frowns and hands it to me. "Isn't this the same letter you showed me previously, from the lawyer your parents used to threaten court action, if you didn't sign over the house deeds to them?"

Looking it over carefully, I'm stumped, the same as Benjamin. "Yes, but why would they send the same letter? It even has the same date on it, look it is not dated currently."

I pass the letter back to Benjamin, who checks it out, then hands it to Slade, who in turn reads and hands it to Noah. Liv and Holly stand next to me, one on each side, showing solidarity about whatever this is going to be. I'm grateful to them for being more like sisters than friends.

Sin studies the letter and looks up, right at me, then his eyes run over to Benjamin. "I think they are trying to pull a fast one. You know, frighten Suzie into signing anything they want. But this is just bullshit, means nothing. If you like, I'll have my lawyer contact this lawyer's office and let them know he's being implicated in extortion. That should throw the heat back on the parents."

"That's a good idea, and the sooner that's done, the better," Slade growls.

Sin's phone rings, and checking the caller ID Sin takes it. Holding his hand out for us all to be quiet. "Oh, yeah… Okay… Since when… Yeah, stick with it for now."

Ending the call, Sin smirks. "That was my PI friend. He thought he'd look at this case because he was bored and had nothing better to do. It seems your parents are more than seeing Brent. They are all speaking with lawyers and trying to work out if they can break the prenup agreement and your grandparents' Will. Your parents are up to their ears in debt, and Brent just wants as much out of you as he can get, mostly because the girlfriend is spending his money faster than he can earn it."

"How much fricking money do they think Suzie has? I mean, they want the house, but what else are they after?" Holly asks.

"Oh, they are after the monthly allowance that my grandparents left me. I don't use it because I'm lucky to have a salary that I can easily live from, and even save for anything I need. The allowance is paid into a savings account, one I never use, and have always thought would be nice to keep for any child or children I may have. It would be a fallback for college fees for them, well, that sort of thing at least."

"I never knew that, Suzie, but it is a great idea, and something that will be tempting for them to get their hands on. Now I see why they are being so persistent. Did Brent know?" Liv looks like she wants to spit blood at the question about Brent.

"I never told Brent, but my parents know about it, so they may have told him. Brent is after the house because he will want to sell it. He's just as mercenary as my parents, but you know I'm happy to spend every penny I have to stop them getting a dime of my inheritance. All three of them can rot together in some cesspit where they belong." I have to say my temper is rising and the thought that my parents, again, are trying to get their hands on what's mine disgusts me.

"Okay, why don't we do as Sinclair has suggested and have his lawyer stir the pot? He may be able to get word out about what is actually happening with your parents and ex. If anyone then wants to take you on, we all have expert legal firms we can drag on board. Let's walk into a court of law with as many legal teams behind us as we can, and see how long it takes the three of them to piss their pants." Slade folds his arms over his chest and has the most evil grin on his face I've ever seen.

"Okay, let's wait for Sinclair to update us, but in the meantime, we stay calm and alert. Don't get into any panic mode, Suzie. We are all here for you, and we will stand beside you every step of the way, whatever way that is." Benjamin stands, showing us all it's time to head out.

Walking behind Holly and Liv, I squeak when I'm dragged into a storeroom. Turning to see who the hell has dragged me in here, I open my mouth to say, ‘ what the hell' when I'm pulled into a chest and planted with a kiss that has my toes curling. The smell of bergamot and expensive whisky assaults my senses, and I know by this it is Noah.

Running his tongue along my lower lip, I allow him entry, and our tongues tangle. I can taste he had coffee not too long ago, but apart from that there is a hint of mint either from toothpaste or candy.

Pulling back from the kiss, I look up at Noah, who has a look of lust, but also something I don't recognize shining through. "What are you doing, Noah?"

"I'm claiming my woman, and you are mine. You just have to catch up, get with the program." Kissing my nose, Noah opens the door to the storeroom and wanders out, whistling as he walks away. Me, I'm standing here looking bemused.

Holly asked questions all the way home, but I kept my mouth firmly closed. Mainly I have to admit to myself because I have no idea what Noah is thinking, or even how I am feeling about it.

Sitting in my living room, I look at Holly, who is keen to ask questions, but I turn the table on her swiftly. "Well, Holly, since you are so interested in whatever is happening with Noah, it leads me to wonder what's going on with you and Benjamin?" A blush flies over Holly's neck and face. Oh yeah, something is definitely going on.

The door flies open and before we can get up and see who it is, Liv rushes into the living room. After we hear the door slam closed, I have to add.

"Okay, what's going on? You were dragged into the damn storeroom, and you were giving goo-goo eyes to Benjamin. Now, no bullshit, what is going on?" Liv snaps as she throws herself into an easy chair.

"Oh, and what is going on with you and Sin? Hm, I have seen you two touching hands, you know, playing patty fingers." Holly stares at Liv, who also goes a shade of red. Now all three of us are sporting red faces and guilty looks.

"You and Noah, you and Benjamin and I've a date with Sin," Liv smirks at us both while jiggling her eyebrows. Oh, my dear Lord, this is going to either be fantastic or a monumental disaster for all of us.

"This thing with Noah hasn't happened. He has kissed me once, today in the storeroom. That's the most that has happened, and I do like Noah more than a little. He's always been more than a little supportive even when I was going through all the shit with Brent. I would be more than happy to see where it goes with him, but I need to be sure it'll not affect my job, because I don't want to lose it. I love working at STP Security Service and I would be heartbroken to lose my job." Well, I've put it out to them. Now let's see what happens!

"I have been seeing Sin for three weeks. We've been on one date a week, and I've been to the mansion twice for a meal and to watch a movie." Liv still has red cheeks, and when both me and Holly give her the look that says ‘spill the beans,' she sighs and continues. "Okay, we've slept together. It was phenomenal, I've got to tell you. Sin lives up to his name, and sin suits him because that man has the most wicked abilities."

"No, don't say anymore. We don't want to know any of that. We have to look him in the eye, and I don't want visions of other shit in my head when I do that," Holly giggles.

"What about you, Holly?" I ask.

"Benjamin and I have had one meal together. We are just testing the water, and so far it is red hot. Just like bath water you want to step into but can't get past getting even your whole foot in, you know, because it burns your toes. I would love this to work between us, but it's like all new relationships, you just have to take your time and see what happens." I give Holly a nod of the head because I can't do other than agree with her.

"So, you and Benjamin. Liv and Sin, and Noah is chasing me," I giggle because let's be honest, what more can I do!

"Yeah, me and Sin," Liv sighs.

Holly giggles, "Yeah, me and Benjamin."

We all three look at each other and bust out laughing, because who would have thought months after we met we are all in a much better place now than we could have imagined, while we have each other by our sides.
