23. Twenty-Three
I pulled a few of the enforcers aside as the rest of my men led the rogue wolves to our cars. “Don’t leave them unsupervised. It could still be a trap. Make sure that they are fed and have their necessities. I need to speak with the Sheriff. He’s going to have more questions about all this. It’s best if I head them off now.”
As much as I wanted to believe that these men were being honest, I wanted to be careful. I wouldn’t put my pack in danger on their word alone. They would need to earn my trust. If Sawyer could be a double agent, so could anyone.
Chance bowed his head. “We’ll make sure of it. Should some of us accompany you?”
I shifted my feet and fought the urge to look over my shoulder. Lincoln’s and Sawyer’s eyes bore into me. I should say yes, but only a few people knew that Sawyer was on our side. I couldn’t risk the wrong person finding out.
“No. Lincoln will come with me. The Sheriff has been helpful to us, and I believe the threat to be neutralized for the time being.”
Sawyer huffed behind me. There shouldn’t be anyone else.
Lincoln’s response was a gruff growl. You thought that before. How can you be sure now?
I forced a smile and clasped my hands together as I addressed Chance. “We’ll be a few hours at the most.”
That should give me and Lincoln enough time to convince Sawyer.
Chance wiped his hands on his pants as he took a few steps back. His gaze shifted to Lincoln. “Be careful. Take care of our alpha, and call if you need anything.”
Lincoln placed both hands on my shoulders. “I won’t let anything happen to her. She’s right. It should only take us a few hours at the most.”
Chance opened his mouth like he might say something else, but then he shut it and walked to his car.
I waited until everyone headed back to their cars and the engines roared to life before speaking again. Where are you, Sawyer? We need to see the real you.
He ran a hand through his hair. Just outside of town. I can meet you.
My mind raced with places we could meet that would be away from prying eyes. There were a few motels, but the downfall of a small town was people knew me, and checking into a hotel with two hot guys would draw attention.
It needed to be someplace private but also off pack lands. We were watching our borders, and I would hope that my enforcers would notice if Sawyer snuck onto pack territory even if he was a friendly.
I grinned as a thought occurred to me. How far away from the park are you? The entrance is along the main drag. This time of day, it should be quiet.
I passed it about a mile back. I can meet you there.
Butterflies flickered in my belly. I’d have both my men with me together for the first time in what felt like ages. If I had my way, we’d never be separated again.
Lincoln hit his palm on the hood of the car. We’ll be there in just a few minutes.
Sawyer reached out like he wanted to touch me, but instead, he gave me a small smile before disappearing.
I suppressed the urge to let out a happy squeal as I hurried to the driver’s seat. I yanked the door open with shaking hands and sat down. It took me a few tries to buckle my seat belt because my hands trembled so badly.
Lincoln put a hand over mine and pushed the buckle into the clutch. “Breathe, sweetheart.”
I closed my eyes for a few seconds and let out a breathy laugh. “I don’t know why it feels like a first date.”
He put his hand over the top of mine as I put the car into gear. “For the first time, we have the opportunity to all be together moving forward. I feel it too.”
I pulled us back onto the road and did a U-turn so we headed toward the park. We both must have been too amped up to talk because neither of us said anything on the couple-minute drive.
I ignored the signs warning the park closed at dark and drove down the path to the parking area. Sawyer was already there, waiting for us.
He leaned against his car, arms crossed over his chest, looking sexy as hell. A tremor of anticipation rocked through me. It took all my willpower to get the vehicle into a spot and shove the gear into park.
Lincoln got out first and hugged his brother. Then they both opened their arms and sandwiched me between them. I breathed in their earthy pine scents, and a weight lifted from my chest, giving me room to breathe.
We were going to be okay. Together, we could do anything.
We stayed in each other’s embrace for what could have been hours. I didn’t want this moment to end. Their arms felt safe, warm, and full of love. Everything that I wanted.
Sawyer was the first to pull back. He wrapped his fingers in mine. “Let’s take a walk.”
Dread filled me, and the weight came back, except this one felt like it weighed a ton.
He tugged on my hand, and I shuffled forward before falling into step with him.
Lincoln took my other hand and gave it a squeeze. He looked down at the trail as our footfalls crunched over the gravel. “You’re going back to Dad’s.”
It wasn’t a question.
I tried to pull my hand out of Sawyer’s grasp, but he held tight.
“I have to,” Sawyer said. “We’ve seen a few groups defect. I can’t believe there aren’t more.”
I dug my feet into the ground and then stomped my foot, not caring if I looked like a child. “How will you find them? It’s not like you can just ask. You put yourself at risk the longer you stay. I can’t let you go back there.”
Sawyer shook his head. “I have to, sweetheart. It keeps you and Lincoln safe. I can be your ears on the inside.”
I snatched my hand back, held it to my chest, and stepped back so that my back pressed against Lincoln’s chest. “You can’t keep doing that. The three of us can do more good here together.”
Sawyer looked at Lincoln, his eyes pleading. I held my breath and waited for him to respond.
Lincoln cleared his throat. “I’m with Sloane. It’s time, brother. Stay with us.”
Sawyer shoved his fingers through his hair and paced in front of us. “You don’t understand. Dad’s gone manic. He’s losing his mind and becoming erratic.”
I reached out for him, but he moved too fast. “All the more reason for you to stay here where it’s safe. There’s no telling what he might have you do. Even if you are undercover, Sawyer, there are some things you just can’t come back from.”
His brows pinched together into a deep frown, and he looked from Lincoln to me and then back again.
Lincoln wrapped me in a hug. “You’re keeping something from us. I can feel it.”
He stopped pacing and put his hands on the railing of the bridge as he looked out over the water.
I looped my arm around his and sighed as I leaned my head on his shoulder. “Talk to us, Sawyer. We’re all in this together.”
He turned to me and cupped both my cheeks with his hands. “I don’t want to fight. We get to see each other in person so little.”
His gaze flicked to my lips, and my breath hitched. As his lips descended on mine, I knew I should push him away, demand that we go back home, and do this in our bedroom. But the moment our lips touched, all sensible thoughts left my mind.
I melted against him. Lincoln pressed against my back so I was smashed between the two of them. My body lit on fire. While Sawyer caressed my lips, Lincoln kissed his way up my neck and stopped to nibble on my ear.
My knees went weak, and if they weren’t here, I would have fallen, but I was in the perfect position. Between my mates and where I belonged. This moment was amazing and right, and I never wanted it to end.
If Sawyer would stay with us, it never would end. We could spend every night and morning wrapped in each other’s embraces. I trembled with anticipation. That would be the life. I needed it like I needed my next breath.
Sawyer nipped at my top lip and leveled his gaze with mine. “I can feel you shaking, sweetheart. Are you cold?”
The opposite, actually. I felt like I was burning up. I shook my head, not able to form words.
Lincoln licked my lobe. “I think it’s us. We’re turning her on too much.”
I craned my neck so I could look at him. “No such thing.”
He chuckled. His warm breath glided over me like a caress, which only ignited the inferno more.
Sawyer kissed my jaw. “I don’t know, Lincoln. Should we put it to the test?”
He hummed his agreement as he rubbed my shoulders while sucking at the hollow of my neck.
Sawyer grinned as he smoothed his hands up and down my sides. “We’re going to make you sing, sweetheart.”
I swallowed hard. I didn’t know what they had in mind, but I could imagine. And just thinking about it made me wetter.
Lincoln peppered kisses down my collarbone. “We should get off the trail. Someplace quieter and private, where no one will hear her screaming.”
I loved it when they talked dirty to me. I squeezed my thighs together, needing to create some friction.
Sawyer pulled away, making his lips pop when he did. He looked over his shoulder. “There’s a lookout up ahead, just off the trail.”
I didn’t get a chance to give my say before Lincoln scooped me up like I weighed nothing and carried me the few hundred feet. When we got there, he dropped to his knees and supported my weight with one hand while placing the other on the ground.
“It’s not too cold for you, I don’t think,” he said.
He set me gently on the ground, cradling my head as Sawyer shoved his shirt underneath it to give me a little pillow.
Sawyer skimmed his fingers down my cheek. “Let us know if you’re uncomfortable, sweetheart.”
I was far too turned on for that to be a concern. They didn’t move, so I nodded. That seemed to be all the encouragement they needed.
Sawyer found my lips again as Lincoln pushed my shirt up and sucked one nipple into his mouth as he positioned himself between my legs. His hands went to my pants, yanking on the drawstring. The fabric loosened, allowing him to snake his hand down my pants straight to my core.
Lincoln plunged two fingers into my wet heat, thrusting gently. I rolled my hips in time with his movements. Sawyer continued kissing me, one hand going to my hair. The other went to my other breast so he could gently knead it.
The two of them loving on me at the same time was almost too much. My chest heaved as I tried to draw in a breath. I squeezed my eyes shut, making stars burst behind them.
Sawyer squeezed my breast. “How are you doing, sweetheart?”
The only thing I could do was whimper. There was no way I could form a coherent thought even if I wanted to.
Lincoln and Sawyer must’ve taken that as their cue to amp it up another notch. Sawyer’s lips melted against mine as he tweaked my breast just right. Lincoln thrust his fingers, curling them just so to make sure to hit that magic spot inside me.
The sounds coming out of my mouth were inhuman. I rolled my hips, needing that beautiful friction we were creating.
I swiped my tongue against Sawyer’s. He tasted like heaven and freedom and everything that I wanted for our future.
I wound up like a ball of twine pulled tighter and tighter by the second until finally it snapped. My orgasm rushed through me like a tidal wave. Sawyer captured my scream with his mouth.
Lincoln sank a third finger in, pushing deeper and harder, drawing out everything he could from me. I went limp, unable to move as white dots continued to burst behind my eyes.
Lincoln yanked my pants down my legs. Sawyer continued to kiss me. Both his hands went to my breasts, pulling and tugging them just enough to give me pleasure mixed with pain.
I moaned when Lincoln pulled away and cracked my eyes open enough to see him pulling down his own pants before he nestled back between my legs and slowly slid home. I cried out at the feel of him as he buried himself all the way to the hilt.
He pulled out to the tip just to thrust all the way back in. Sawyer’s kisses grew harder, more insistent.
He mumbled against my lips, “We’re going to make you feel so good, sweetheart. How many times do you think we can make you come?”
I didn’t have an answer, and I didn’t care. They could keep this up all night and into the morning, and I would be perfectly content.
Lincoln grunted, changing his angle and lifting both my legs so they rested on his shoulders. My bottom came off the ground, giving me no choice but to let both of them have their way with me completely.
Lincoln smacked my rear, making a resounding crack. His hands went to mine, gripping them and pushing them into the ground as he continued to thrust inside me.
His eyes lit up when our gazes met. “Are you going to come for me, sweetheart?”
The husky way his voice came out sent me tipping over the edge. Sawyer kissed me harder, catching every bit of my scream, muffling it so the entire park wouldn’t hear.
Lincoln increased his pace, slamming into me in the most delightful way, making me cry out as he intensified my orgasm. He buried himself to the hilt and grunted as he came with a shuddering moan.
I was so busy coming back down from my high that it took me far too long to realize Lincoln had set my legs back on the ground, and he and Sawyer were switching places.
By the time I peeked my eyes open, Sawyer was stepping out of his jeans and nestling himself between my thighs. He grasped my thigh and squeezed it before lifting it to his lips and peppering kisses along it to my knee.
Lincoln nuzzled my neck as one hand went to my nipple. He gave me open-mouthed kisses from my jawline to my breast before sucking the other one into his mouth.
Sawyer pulled on my leg just enough so I knew he wanted me to wrap it around his waist. Then he buried himself inside my wet heat. While Lincoln’s thrusts had had been long, Sawyer’s were shallow so he stayed buried deep. I locked my ankles together around him and tilted my hips so he went even deeper.
He put one hand by my hip and the other on my clit, applying enough pressure that another orgasm started to bloom.
I got lost in the feel of them. This was bliss, and I never wanted it to end.
When Sawyer sent me teetering over the edge for the third time, I cried out, both their names a jumbled mess on my tongue.
Sawyer stayed deep inside me, thrusting harder and faster until he groaned his release and spilled his seed.
The three of us stayed melded together for what could have been minutes or hours. The sun had long since set by the time Sawyer pulled away.
A lump formed in my throat as Sawyer dressed. He hadn’t said anything, but judging by the cloud of sadness and turmoil hanging in the air, I knew what he was doing.
He was leaving.
He moved abnormally slowly, like he didn’t want to. Lincoln sat up and leaned against a rock, drawing his knees toward his chest while looking at the ground.
Maybe Lincoln had made peace with Sawyer’s decision, but I hadn’t. I reached out for him and trailed my fingers down his arm.
“Please don’t go.” My voice cracked, and tears pricked my eyes.
Sawyer tugged at the hem of his tee even though it was already on. “I have to.”
With that, he turned on his heel and started back down the trail.
My heart ached, and I couldn’t help but feel like he was making a horrible mistake. One that might cost him dearly.
