EPILOGUE
" W e have another mission," Kira said, bringing ice into their honeymoon suite in their hotel room in Hawaii.
"No. Martin couldn't be giving us another assignment while we're on our honeymoon. He said we would have the Christmas holidays off through New Year's, which is why we paid for this extravagant hotel on Waikiki Beach—a dolphin pool, white sand beaches, blue sky, turquoise water, what could be better?" Fisher put the champagne on ice.
Kira laughed. "So you are already tired of the work?"
"No, but on our honeymoon?"
She began stripping off her clothes.
He frowned, thinking they were going to have to get packed in a hurry. "I thought we had a mission."
"Yep, to enjoy our honeymoon without any interruptions. And to send him three boxes of his favorite chocolate-covered macadamia nuts before we leave."
Fisher smiled and began stripping out of his clothes in a hurry. "Now that's more like it. If I hadn't been shot and fallen off that cliff?—"
"I wouldn't have fallen in love with a sexy gray wolf, found a mate and a USF partner who is just perfect for me, and a home close to my family," she said.
"And I wouldn't have found the red wolf of my dreams, a new job, and a whole new way of life, which couldn't be better now that you are with me."
They were kissing, naked, the sea breeze blowing through the living room when they got a call and Fisher sighed and answered it.
"Hey, it's Martin. I promised I wouldn't call you and bother you on your honeymoon, but a wolf shifter is causing trouble at a luau close to your location and I wouldn't ask this of you, but a Guardian is there by herself and needs help. The luau is located at a hotel about two miles from yours."
"We're on it," Fisher said. "What do you want us to do about the wolf?"
"I'm having someone pick him up, but he won't be there for another hour or so, and then you'll be free to enjoy the rest of your time there in peace."
"Okay, we're off to check it out," Fisher said.
"He has curly blond hair that reaches his shoulders, he's blue eyed, looks like a surfer, and is wearing a pink Hawaiian shirt, black flipflops, a black watch, and pink board shorts. The Guardian is a redhead wearing a flowery blue dress and she says you can't miss him, but she'll do what she can to try and get him under control until you arrive."
When they ended the call, Kira was already getting dressed and Fisher hurried to dress, and they headed out to their rental car while he filled her in on the details.
"I don't know about you, but it seems too unreal that a Guardian would be here alone and encounter a troublesome wolf shifter—also going solo," Kira said.
"I was thinking the same thing. But I can't imagine Martin is making up the story."
"I know. Which is why we have to take this seriously."
It didn't take them long to arrive at the hotel. They hurried to park, then walked into the lobby, where they heard Hawaiian music playing outside and smelled pork roasting on a spit. They hurried that way, expecting the man causing trouble to be standing on top of a table, being totally out of control.
Instead, they saw Demetria, Everett, Vaughn, and Jillian motioning to them to join them at a table. Everett and Kira smiled.
"This is a setup," Kira said. "I can't believe Martin would tease us like that."
"Yeah, he doesn't seem like the type who would." Fisher and Kira joined the others at the table and a lady brought them flower leis and put them over their heads. "Whose idea was this?" Fisher asked.
"All of us," Demetria said. "Since we worked with you on the last mission and Vaughn and Jillian are your family and also in the USF, we all wanted to come out to see you and enjoy a vacation at the same time. We won't intrude, but we wanted to do the luau with you. And let you know that if anything USF related did come up, we'll take care of it."
"As if we wouldn't be there to help out." Kira ordered a rum cocktail, and so did Fisher.
The Hawaiian dancers began performing, dancing, swallowing fire. Roasted pig was served along with vegetables and fruit. They had a great visit and Fisher and Kira were glad that they had come to see them and enjoy a vacation too.
"So who is managing things if we're all gone?" Kira asked.
"Your former partner. He's healed up and back to duty. Also the group of USF agents in Ely, Minnesota are backing him up," Demetria said.
"Good," Kira said. "I'm glad I'm working with Fisher instead."
They all laughed, knowing just how he and Kira rubbed each other the wrong way.
"Well, we also have some news," Demetria said.
Kira raised her brows.
Demetria took hold of Everett's hand and smiled. "We're finally pregnant and going to have twins in June of next year."
"Oh, wow, that's wonderful," Kira said.
"Yeah, we were waiting until we were ready for it. But I won't be on leave until the babies are born, or if I need to be, a couple of weeks before. By then, Fisher and you will be old pros," Demetria said.
"So that's another reason you wanted Fisher hired," Kira said.
"We had considered it," Everett said, laughing.
After the luau, they all hugged and went on their way to enjoy their own vacations so the honeymooners could have their special time together.
"I can't believe Martin had a hand in this subterfuge," Kira said, stripping her clothes off in their hotel room. "But it was fun to see the others and I know Vaughn and Jillian wanted to welcome you to the USF personally since they hadn't had a chance to before this."
Fisher removed his clothes and slipped his arms around Kira and hugged her tight. "Knowing Vaughn and Jillian, they were the ones who had set this all up. I can't wait for all the family to get together for Christmas in Greystoke."
"But for now, I'm ready for lots of early Christmas presents from you."
He chuckled. "I really lucked out when I met you. And your early Christmas presents are coming right up."
