Epilogue
Mateo
The tension is thick in the air, and I wouldn't even be surprised at this point if the King tried to kill me. I can see that he notices that I marked Addison, and she is sitting beside me, not even attempting to go to them. I'm sure he thought that she would choose her country and maybe she should have but I'm pleased that she didn't. I want to just make sure that she is safe, and I will do everything in my power to make it so. I know that this might not work out or something, but I have to do everything that I can to make sure that it does.
"So, I see that the choice has been made." He murmurs coldly, "I have no choice then but to give you what you want, Mateo."
I just nod my head, trying to not be smug about this and piss him off more. But then, Addison rises to her feet and looks at him coldly.
"Dad, I love you, but I will never be a pawn in your game anymore. I didn't want to marry anyone, it wasn't fair. I know that you have had a feud with Mateo and his people but from what I have learned, they don't have too many reasons to not be angry with you right now." She murmurs, making my heart swell that she is sticking up for us, "so I do hope that you will keep to your word and at least try to make peace."
My jaw almost dropped because I didn't expect her to do that. She takes my hand and leads me out of the council room that way he can figure out what he wants to do. I don't care though, taking her by her shoulders and pressing her right against the wall as I kiss her. I don't know how she has managed to sneak her way into my heart but I'm a goner. There's nothing that I can do now. I just hope she realizes what she has done to me.
My mate…
