I pace my bedchamber as anxiety courses through me. We have Shine.
Moon will come for her mother, and she’ll bring my son with her. All I have to do is keep him safe long enough for them to kill the Queen.
Then I will be free of this madness. This eternal hell.
My son will finally be able to live his life free of his mother’s wrath.

I take a seat in one of the rocking chairs arranged around the old lady’s living room. There are photos of Moon on every damn wall. She’s right, I do have her face. I didn’t even know the truth until recently. All my life, I’ve only had one real friend.
And she took him. She never needed to force me before. I always do what she says.
I never questioned her before. Never bothered to fight back.
But now, all I want is to watch her die.
I’ll save my best friend any way I can. No matter what it takes.
She calls me Girl. Like I’m nothing. Like I’m worthless.
But he calls me Lovely.
He gives me hope and happiness. So for him, I’ll be the Queen’s reckoning.
