Chapter 21
Twenty-One
Crow
“ Y ou know this will probably get you killed?”
Yep.” I nod, not caring. I hadn’t seen her until the start of the fourth trial, and then I saw the horde of Goblins. Then, I watched as she disappeared again.
“And if you manage to survive, you’ll probably end up charged with treason?”
“Unless we kill the king? Also, yes.”
“Can you at least admit that this is a risk, and asking him for help is probably going to get everyone killed?” My sister pushes, and I nod.
“I am aware that asking our brother for help is most likely unwise, yes. But he may be my only shot at saving her.”
“Unless he decides he wants her for himself.”
Yeah, there’s that.
Arlo
My skin is thicker than an Elf’s, and my strength is usually a surprise to those I’m fighting. It’s not obvious I’m half Orc if you can’t see my tusks.
As I fight my way through Goblins trying to fucking kill me, I see Moon running for her life. Goblins are hunting her and ignoring every other contestant.
What the fuck?
Something stabs me in the back, pissing me off. I spin, grab the Goblin that stabbed me, and rip its head off. That stuns me momentarily because that shouldn’t have been possible.
These fucks aren’t a part of the Games, or they’d be protected by the spell…
I turn back to Moon, sprinting after her so I can protect her, when I see a cloaked man appear behind Moon and wrap his arms around her before they both disappear.
“NO!” I shout, plowing through the Goblins in my attempt to reach the last spot Moon was in, when the club of an Ogre comes swinging toward my head.
Fuck.
I hear Moon screaming before I black out. I’ll save her… One way or another…
