Chapter 24
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
brENDON
"Ready to go kick our friend's asses?" I check with Carter as I park my car.
"Damn right, I am. If Con thinks we're going to take it easy on him, he's in for a rude awakening," he responds with a smirk.
"You're extra hot when you're confident," I tell him, casting a quick glance around before pressing my lips to his for a chaste kiss.
"And you are insatiable," he states when I dart my tongue out to lick his lips.
"Guilty," I reply with a smirk before stealing one more kiss. "Now come on, we've got some asses to kick."
Carter laughs and gets out of the car at the same time as me.
As we are walking into the athletics building, I see a person walking in the distance, and I wonder if they were able to see the kiss Carter and I shared. I didn't see them before, but that doesn't mean they weren't in a blind spot. I highly doubt they saw anything, but it's a possibility. If they did see us, though, there's nothing I can do about it, so I just let it go. I'm sure whoever the person is doesn't care anyway.
The walk to the court we booked out for the hour is short, and I'm pleasantly surprised to find more of our teammates than just Mace and Con.
"This is going to be so much fun," I tell Carter with a giant grin.
Carter's expression matches mine as he nods. "Let's kick some ass."
By the time the friendly game of four on four is over, we are all dripping sweat and completely worn out. None of us went easy on the others, and giving it my all felt amazing. It also felt really fucking good to win.
"I think I'm going to pass out the second we get home," Carter murmurs as we make our way to my car.
"You don't have any energy left?" I ask, waggling my brows at him.
He nibbles on his lower lip before responding. "I might have a tiny bit of energy," he whispers in a husky voice.
I chuckle then wink at him. "I can work with that."
"What the fuck?" Carter asks when we get to my car and see that the passenger side mirror is broken.
"Shit," I grumble, making my way to check out the damage.
There are no scratches on my car, just the broken mirror that's laying on the ground beside the tire.
"What do you think happened?" Carter questions, and I shake my head.
"I don't have a fucking clue. I mean, someone must have hit it, but you'd think there would also be scratches if it was a side swipe."
"They could have just accidentally parked too close and hit your mirror with theirs," Carter suggests, which is totally plausible. "Should we check with campus security?"
I sigh then shake my head. "Nah. I don't want the hassle. I'm sure whoever did it also has damage to their vehicle and will have to pay for it so at least they won't be walking away Scott free."
"Are you sure?" Carter checks.
"I'm sure," I reply. "If we go to campus security, they are going to want to do a whole investigation, and it's just going to take a shit ton of time. Besides, it won't be that expensive of a fix."
"Okay," Carter responds before getting into the passenger seat. "We can drive my car around until yours gets fixed," he tells me once I'm behind the wheel and I smile at him, reaching over to squeeze his hand.
"Thanks, baby. I love you."
"I love you, too," he replies, beaming at me.
While it sucks to have my mirror broken, I'm beyond grateful to have an amazing and caring boyfriend. There isn't anything that could bring me down for long with him by my side.
