Epilogue
T here were currently four stressed out men in the delivery room while Medusa gave birth to our first pup. She’d put off having children this whole time because she didn’t want to risk her glasses getting knocked off and turning them to stone. She wanted them for the longest time, but thought it was impossible. That problem was fixed now, and things were so much better. They’d get to be a kid instead of worrying about the Coalition or violence from humans.
“Oh, my Goddess, RIP vag,” I said, pointing my phone between her legs because someone had to record our first baby.
“I swear to shit, if this ends up on social media, I will actually murder you,” Medusa growled.
Wow, childbirth made women grompy. She usually just threatened to withhold tits or sex instead of going to straight up murder. Based on what I could see through my phone camera, I’d probably be pissed off, too. I’d read some kinky books where male shifters got pregnant, but they had C-sections instead of pushing the baby out of a tiny hole.
Mad respect for both options, but I had to do damage control.
“It’s our first baby. If it’s a girl, we need this on video so we can show it to her when she hits puberty so she doesn’t have sex until she’s at least fifty. I’d never post this on social media.”
“You all need to move out of my way because this baby is coming!” Sarah, our midwife yelled.
We all scrambled out of the way because this was it. We were about to be daddies to a beautiful, little hybrid baby. Tribrid baby? Medusa became a hybrid when she got fury magic in addition to being a green witch. We were all different races, and I was a hybrid myself. I didn’t particularly care what mix of magic our child ended up with, I just wanted them to be healthy.
Medusa was panting and crying as she pushed and then the midwife just jumped back.
“What the actual fuck?” Sarah yelled.
A very tiny bit of shadow floated over Sarah’s shoulders and solidified into a screaming baby in my arms. Sarah did what she needed with the umbilical cord and then took our daughter to clean her.
Shit. The first baby was mine? I was one hundred percent certain Dionysus had some kind of super powerful god sperm that was going to swim faster than ours and implant before our little swimmers got there. I was totally going to tag Dionysus and brag that my sperm was faster than his.
We had decided if it was a girl, we were going to name her Cassandra. That seer was the reason Dionysus found Medusa, and we all got together. She helped us pull this off without any of us dying. Which wasn’t bad for someone who had been cursed to have no one believe their vision.
Sarah brought Cassandra over to Medusa and we all surrounded the bed. Cassandra immediately settled down when she had her momma. Shit, we were parents. Were we even responsible enough for that?
My mom was super excited about the idea of grandbabies, and I was over the moon at the idea. I reached out, and she wrapped those tiny fingers around my thumb. She was strong.
I made a vow right there. Medusa wanted lot of kids and so did we. The Coalition was gone, and everyone was mostly behaving themselves now that they knew the gods were real.
My children weren’t going to have the same childhood I did. They were never going to sleep at night on a nasty cot wondering where their parents were. I was going to teach Cassandra how to make her own shadow wolf when she was old enough. She’d have green witch magic, and we didn’t know if she’d have any fury powers since none of the original furies had children.
The dangers we all faced were gone, but if anyone tried to hurt our kids, they’d regret it.
