Chapter 21
Wayden
F uck, Wayden thought as he watched Blaine walk out of the room. It had been a miracle Blaine had held back for this long. Wayden was still amazed that Blaine had obeyed him every time he'd stopped Blaine from saying anything.
Wayden knew he might be reading too much into it, but it had felt like when an omega obeys his alpha. Blaine had submitted to him so completely and so beautifully that it took Wayden's breath away every time.
Wayden itched to follow Blaine, but he held himself back as all kinds of emotions surged within him. If he followed Blaine right then, Wayden might do something he'd regret because Blaine wasn't ready for it. Wayden had to give him time. But fuck… he wanted nothing more than to follow Blaine and claim him. Wayden longed to get bonded to Blaine, preferably soon. He couldn't fucking wait.
Fuck this dinner. He had to follow his omega.
Wayden turned to his brother, only to find Ckson staring at him.
"I'll walk you out," Ckson said getting to his feet.
"But… but we're not done with dinner," Ambrose whined.
"Stay and eat then," Ckson said in a stern voice. He walked around the table and waited for Wayden to get up. Wayden got to his feet and walked out of the dining room.
"Why are you being mean to your omega?" Wayden asked, making sure to put emphasis on "your" because Ambrose belonged to his brother now. Wayden couldn't fucking believe he'd come here after all that. But it didn't hurt anymore. Wayden didn't care what Ckson and Ambrose did. Meeting Blaine was the best thing that had ever happened to him.
"He's not mine. You know that," Ckson said walking towards the front door. He came to a stop and turned towards Wayden. "You should actually thank me, because I stopped you from making the biggest mistake of your life. If it wasn't for me, you would be bonded to Ambrose. I doubt you would be as happy as you are now."
"What?" Wayden walked up to his brother, all the anger he'd buried long ago surfacing. "I know you didn't just say that to me. You… you slept with him, even though you knew how much I loved him. You didn't save me from shit. You did what you've always done. Take. You take everything, Ckson. Everything just has to belong to you because you're an aggressive alpha and all that bullshit. And you don't care what happens to the rest of us. Why did I even come back here?" Wayden walked to the door, but Ckson gripped his arm to stop him.
"Ambrose was never yours, Wayden."
"Clearly!" Wayden shouted. "You made him yours."
"You're not listening to me. Calm down and listen to me. I've tried to tell you what happened back then, but you never listened to me. And I understand. You were hurt and it's not easy finding out that the person you love doesn't love you."
"And you're an expert how? You've never been in a relationship except with Ambrose. And I never asked. Is he your true mate? Do you love him? Does he love you? You're living together. It must be mutual love then."
"We're not living together, Wayden. He came to visit me. He comes here from time to time, hoping to see you. But you're never home."
"Whose fault is that?"
"Are you going to blame me forever? You found your true mate, everything worked out."
"What?"
"Your assistant – or should I say your mate? You two look good together, by the way."
Wayden stared at Ckson, stunned. Blaine was his true mate. How?
Ckson laughed as if he'd heard his question. "You didn't know, did you? Lucky bastard."
"How did you know when I didn't even know it myself?"
"When true mates bond, their scents blend together. They become one. They move as one. I caught your scent as soon as you walked into the house. Plus, I could sense it. I can't explain it; it's an aggressive alpha thing. There's a strong bond between you two even though you haven't claimed him yet. I sensed something else too – or more like heard it."
"What?"
"You're going to be a dad," Ckson said. "Congratulations."
Wayden pulled his brother into his arms and held him tight, his anger forgotten. In that moment the past didn't matter. Wayden was too happy to care. "Thank you… thank you. It's… thank you, Ckson."
"What are you thanking me for?" Ckson asked, patting Wayden's back. "I've always wanted what's best for you. Even if I had to sacrifice myself in order to save you."
"Fuck off," Wayden said, pulling away from his brother. "Your little stunt hurt me. Next time use your damn words and don't scar me for life. What if I hadn't fallen in love again? I could have lost Blaine."
"He's your mate. There is no way you would have been able to resist him."
Wayden shook his head. Ckson was crazy. Wayden never could understand the way his brother's brain worked.
"So, you broke Ambrose and me up because you wanted me to meet my true mate. What if that never happened?"
"You were better alone than being with an omega who didn't love you. And besides, I never liked Ambrose," Ckson said with a shrug. "He loved the Mephis name more than he did you. He still does."
"But you let him come by," Wayden said, confused.
"It served a purpose. It kept you two apart."
Wayden threw his hands over his head. "I just can't keep up with you." Wayden walked to the door and then stopped. "Did you really fall and hurt yourself or was this another one of your stunts?"
Wayden almost laughed when Ckson actually looked sheepish.
"Did you really fall?"
Ckson nodded. "And twisted my ankle badly. It's better now. There's no need to worry. I told Ambrose not to connect with you, but he was desperate to see you. So was I."
"Ambrose served a purpose," Wayden stated dryly.
"You're getting it." Ckson gave Wayden a thumbs up.
"What were you doing? Were you on one of your midnight runs?"
"Go, your mate is waiting for you," Ckson said, turning to walk away from him. "Don't leave without saying goodbye. I want to get to know your mate. He's part of the family, after all."
"Are you not going to tell me what happened?"
"No. Maybe after it's less embarrassing I'll tell you," Ckson said hobbling up the stairs. Wayden watched him until he disappeared upstairs, then made his way out of the house. He stopped when he saw Blaine standing a few paces away talking to himself.
"He's mine," Blaine said. "He's mine. He's mine."
"What?" Wayden said, his heart ready to burst out of his chest. Everything Ckson had said was true. Wayden had believed his brother without question, but hearing Blaine confirm it caused something inside him to burst open.
Blaine turned to face him. And it took everything in Wayden not to run to Blaine and hold him tight.
"I thought you were staying in the house," Blaine said, and then walked to the shuttle. Wayden followed Blaine all the way to their bedroom. The shuttle suddenly felt like theirs. Their home, their beginning, their sanctuary. Wayden sat on the bed and just stared at Blaine.
"What?" Blaine asked, blushing. Fuck. Wayden's heart was beating so fast. "Stop staring at me."
"I can't help it. Say it again," Wayden said, smiling broadly.
Blaine's eyes went wide. "You heard me?"
"Yes. And it felt good to hear you say it. I've been waiting for weeks to hear you say that I'm yours." Wayden opened his arms and beckoned Blaine close. Blaine stared at him, not moving. "Come here. I know that you want to."
"What if I was talking about another alpha?"
"I'll kill him," Wayden declared. Blaine laughed as he jumped into Wayden's arms, wrapping his thighs and arms around him. Wayden slammed their lips together. He kissed his mate, putting everything he felt into the kiss. "What took you so long?"
"I'm sorry. I was scared. I…" Blaine stopped kissing him and leaned his forehead against Wayden's.
"Of what? I'll never hurt you."
"I know that. I…"
"What?"
"A lot of people don't know that I have an older brother. I always tell them that I'm the oldest of seven omega brothers, but that's a lie. I have another brother. His name is Orly. He's a year older than me. He was my best friend. But that stopped when he fell in love with an alpha. Orly fell hard for the alpha, so much so that he would sneak out at night just to go and meet the alpha. My mother had this thing where she would give us an herbal tea so we wouldn't all go into heat at the same time because we were poor. Orly stopped drinking the tea because he wanted to be with his alpha. He did everything to be with the alpha. But everything changed when Orly got pregnant: the alpha wanted nothing to do with him. Orly didn't take it well. He cut his wrists, his thighs, his stomach… I thought he was dead when I found him. He was so still and there was so much blood.
"My mother took him to the health centre, but it was too late for the cub. Orly barely survived too. He's alive, but he's not. He doesn't speak or go out. He stays in a small house in the backyard. No one knows what he does in there because he doesn't let anyone in. After seeing what happened to Orly, I vowed never to fall in love, never to allow an alpha to have that kind of power over me. And then you came along… you changed everything. You made me want things."
Tears rolled down Blaine's cheeks. He wiped them away, but more came. "Even when I was scared to want you, I still wanted you. I know it's ridiculous. I shouldn't feel the way I feel. I wasn't the one who was abandoned by an alpha. I just can't help the way I feel."
"I understand, baby. Secondary trauma is a serious thing. You were hurt too." Wayden wrapped his arms around Blaine and held him tight. "I'll never leave you. I'm here to stay. I love you."
"I love you too," Blaine said.
"Say that again," Wayden said kissing Blaine's cheek.
Blaine giggled. "I love you… I love you… I love you. Satisfied?"
"No." Wayden flipped Blaine onto his back and slid over him. Wayden shivered as the need to claim Blaine overwhelmed him. He leaned his head against the mattress and tried to reign in his emotions.
"You're trembling. What's wrong?" Blaine asked, sliding his hands down Wayden's back. Blaine moaned, arching into him.
Fuck, Wayden groaned as his cock hardened. Blaine was really testing his control.
"Nothing is wrong. I just want to make you mine, but I feel like this is not the right time for that. You've been through a lot. And…" Blaine kissed him cutting off his words. "Does that mean…?"
"I'm fine," Blaine said. "I feel free. I've never talked about my brother to anyone. I never thought I would meet an alpha like you. I want you to be mine too. I want to bond with you." Blaine rose to his elbows and bit Wayden on the side of his neck, hard. Wayden clenched his jaw to keep from crying out as pleasure flooded his veins. He dug his fingers into the mattress as his hips rolled all on their own. Blaine whimpered beneath him. "Please…please…"
Wayden got up and ripped his clothes off. Blaine scrambled to his feet too and took off his clothes. When Blaine was done, Wayden dragged him down on the bed. They moved as one, reaching for each other. Their lips locked in a deep kiss that left them breathless and needy. They'd done this many times, but it somehow felt different, intense and so, so good. Wayden moaned into Blaine's mouth before he crawled down his body to place a kiss on Blaine's chest, just above his nipple. Blaine whined as Wayden placed another kiss on his chest, and another, until Wayden was flicking his tongue against Blaine's right nipple. Wayden moved to the other and did the same before he sucked on it.
Blaine arched into him, his fingers tunnelling into Wayden's hair to hold him there.
"Fuck… fuck… so good… so good," Blaine mumbled. Wayden caressed Blaine's hip to his ass. He reached between Blaine's cheeks and smoothed his fingers over Blaine's sopping wet hole. Wayden pushed two fingers inside and fucked Blaine with them while he suckled on Blaine's nipples. Blaine moaned, making the sweetest sound that drove Wayden crazy.
"Oh, fuck," Blaine moaned. "I think I'm going to come."
"Not yet," Wayden said, going to his knees. He gripped Blaine's thighs and opened them wide. Blaine went to his elbows and watched Wayden sink into him. It was the hottest thing ever. Wayden slid deeper, and started to move, fucking Blaine hard.
"Oh, fuck!" Blaine screamed, coming. Cum streamed out of his cock, coating his chest. Wayden leaned forward and licked Blaine's chest clean, while he fucked Blaine in deep languid strokes, prolonging the pleasure. But too soon, Wayden's muscles locked and his limbs tingled. He was fucking trembling. Wayden closed his eyes, giving himself to the pleasure that washed over his body.
"Oh, fuck," Wayden hissed, dropping onto his elbows over Blaine. He mumbled incoherently as his hips moved all on their own to shove his thickening knot into place. Blaine mewed beneath him. And Wayden instinctively knew what was coming next. It was time. Wayden licked the side of Blaine's neck, before he sank in teeth into his flesh. Wayden's mind went blank, and all he could do was feel. He'd never thought claiming his mate would feel like this. He clutched Blaine close and lay there, basking in the pleasure and joy that thrummed through his veins.
"I love you," he mumbled against Blaine's skin before he passed out.
When he woke up again, Blaine was running his fingers through his hair.
"Why aren't you asleep?"
"I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that I'm a bonded omega now, but I still feel the same. I feel like myself."
"You thought omegas change after they get bonded."
"Yes. I guess that was one of my fears too," Blaine said softly.
"I'm sorry for what happened to you and your brother," Wayden said wrapping his arms around Blaine. "I wish I could take it all away."
"Then I wouldn't have met you. I would have bonded with the first alpha I met. And I met a lot of alphas since I was sent to a commune house. I lived in their houses. I was this close to them." Blaine held up his fingers close to each other to demonstrate.
Wayden growled, biting into the back of Blaine's neck. Blaine slapped him playfully. Laughter echoed all around them as they wrestled on the bed.
"Stop biting me, you brute," Blaine said, laughing harder.
"You're my true mate. You wouldn't have bonded someone else."
Blaine froze beside him. "What?" Blaine asked. He turned around to face Wayden.
"You're my true mate," Wayden said. He almost laughed at the look on Blaine's face, he kissed Blaine instead. "You are mine. Fate would have brought us together."
"But… but… shouldn't I have felt something?"
"Come to think of it. I did feel something but I just ignored it. It was easy to fight you than acknowledge my feelings."
"You liked me from the start, didn't you?" Blaine asked, a sly smile pulling on his lips. "Did you find me attractive?"
"No. I thought you were obnoxious and troublesome."
"You don't have to be so honest," Blaine grumbled.
"Sorry." Wayden laughed.
"No. You're not. You've been waiting to say that for a very long time, haven't you? You should be glad that you're my true mate. Can I ask you something?"
"What?"
"I want you to meet my family," Blaine said, snuggling into Wayden. The bite mark throbbed deliciously, reminding him that he was bonded to the best alpha on the planet. To top it all off, they were true mates. Blaine couldn't believe it. He smiled to himself, so happy he could scream.
"Tell me where and when," Wayden said sleepily.
"Tomorrow."
"Okay," Wayden said, wrapping his arm tighter around Blaine. "We can have another road trip before we go back to work. There are so many places I want to show you."
"Uhhhh… actually. My family is here."
"Huh?"
"We live on the other side of town?" Blaine said.
"Really? And we've never met?"
"You say that as if we roamed the same circles. You and I met by chance."
"Fate brought us together," Wayden said. "I'm so happy Matews dragged me to that stupid dinner, or I would never have met you."
Blaine sat up and stared at Wayden, mischief shinning in the omega's eyes. "Whose clothes were those?"
"Matews borrowed them from another professor… I think. He might have stolen them. I didn't ask."
"You weren't Professor Drab after all."
"Professor Drab? Is that another name you gave me?" Wayden asked, dragging Blaine down and starting to tickle him. Blaine laughed and then jumped off the bed, evading Wayden's fingers. "How many names did you give me, you little hellion?" Wayden asked, going after him. Blaine screeched and ran to the other side of the room. Wayden lunged forwards and caught him. He held Blaine tight against his chest.
"Do you want to know what I call you now?"
"Tell me?"
"Make me," Blaine said challenging him.
Wayden growled, dumping Blaine onto the bed and rolling on top of him. They played around until their simple game morphed into something hot and intense. Wayden slammed their lips together.
"I want you again," Blaine moaned, wrapping his thighs around him. Wayden didn't need to be asked again. He wrapped his hands around his cock and brought it to Blaine's hole. "Please, alpha," Blaine said, just as Wayden slid deep into him.
"You're going to be the death of me," Wayden groaned as he started to move.
"Do you like that?"
"Very much. Call me alpha again," Wayden said.
"Please, make me come, alpha," Blaine begged. Wayden clutched Blaine's hips and made him come, over and over again.
