Chapter 32

Chapter

Thirty-Two

EMERSON

T he sound of Harper’s laughter fills the still night air as she lays with her dress wrapped around her waist. Her full tits bounce with each giggle making blood rush to my cock in a way that shouldn’t be physically possible so soon as after filling Cy’s tight ass.

“What’s so funny?” Declan asks.

She shakes her head and continues to laugh until she can catch her breath. She sits up and pulls the top of her dress back over her chest. “Just thinking about how blasphemous this was.” She points around at all of us. “Fucking each other on an altar this beautiful out in the open.”

“No one saw us,” Cy says. “You don’t have to worry.”

“I know. I just can’t get over the irony.” She drops back onto the stone, her body relaxing before our eyes.

“Okay, Giggles, let’s get you back to the jeep before you pass out.”

Cy zips his pants up and then scoops her boneless body into his arms. He presses a kiss to her lips and looks over his shoulder. “Can you two get everything back without me?”

“Yeah.” Declan waves him off. “I’m fine.”

I shot him a disbelieving look, and he scowls right back. “Quit acting like I’m permanently handicapped. It’s just a few stitches.” He walks out into the clearing. “I promise I’ll keep my foot up the rest of the weekend.”

“I’ll believe that when I see it.”

We make quick work of cleaning up and gathering what we brought out to the clearing. I grab all the heavy items before he can. He sets the pace as we begin the walk back.

“We still need to figure out who did that to her. ”

“Could have been anyone from the party,” Declan says.

“Or it could have been her stalker.”

“Don’t you think he would have taken her when he had the chance? It was the perfect opportunity with her far enough away from us.”

“Maybe. But she started screaming so quickly. It could have been a test to see how she’d react.”

“At least she started screaming for us, so we’d know.”

“Is she afraid of the dark?”

“Not that I know of. I’ve spent enough time with her at night to know if she was. Maybe enclosed spaces?”

“She does have a lot of trauma that we don’t know about.”

“I’ll shoot Banks a text and ask him.”

“Good idea.”

When we get to the jeep, she’s passed out on Cy’s shoulder. She’s wearing one of my hoodies, and my heart gives a lopsided lurch in my chest. The sleeves are so long I can’t see her hands. It’s absurdly cute.

I make sure to drive carefully, trying not to wake her as we traverse the uneven trail. When I look in the rearview mirror, I catch Cy kiss her forehead. No one is around when I pull out onto the highway and head back to the house. But as soon as I begin to accelerate, I see a car pull out from down the road.

It could be paranoia, but I keep my eyes on the vehicle as it seemingly follows us. As I turn off the highway into downtown, it does as well. Declan has his eyes closed, so I decide to turn the opposite direction of our house. It continues to follow.

Something feels so wrong, so instead of going home, I pull into the police department parking lot. The car drives past slowly, and while I try to get a good look at the driver, the windows are too tinted to see inside.

Declan wakes up and blinks while he looks around. “Why are we here?”

“I think we were being followed.”

He’s immediately alert and looking around. “Where did they go?”

I point to the east. “It could have just been me being too cautious.”

“You never know. Better to be safe.”

“Should we go home now?”

“Yeah, I’ll keep my eyes peeled.”

Luckily, we don’t see anyone for the rest of the short drive home. I park the jeep in the garage, so we don’t have to unload anything, and we all trudge inside. There’s an awkward moment where all look at each other and wonder where we should sleep. Harper has the biggest bed, so we all go in her room, and while she cleans up, the three of us strip down to our underwear and get in bed. She climbs in the middle with Cy with Declan behind her and me behind Cy. In mere minutes we’ve all fallen asleep.
