Chapter 50
Enzo tugged at the collar of his suit. It was the third time he’d done it.
I elbowed him, shooting him a glare. He sighed and dropped his arm, placing his palm to my spine, right above Beck’s.
The traditional ceremony was coming to a close as Adrien and Helen exchanged rings. I could only think about fate and destiny as I watched them. She must have been ecstatic to find out they were mates. I couldn’t have been happier for her; she deserved everything going right after the shit she’d gone through.
Raucous clapping dragged me out of my woolgathering and next thing I knew, the party was in full swing.
I leaned forward, pressing my elbows on the linen covering the table. We took up more than half of the rounded table with Sandra, Danny, and Claudia.
“Do not mismanage your assets, and if you have any questions about it, ask me?—”
“I get it,” Claudia groused. Tanner had been lecturing Claudia since we arrived. He’d been fretting since her and her mate had moved into a new place together. Poor Danny just watched in silence, shredding his napkin into bits in front of him. Tanner as a brother-in-law would send anyone into madness.
I smirked at Danny, and he rubbed his neck. Even Claudia gave me a pleading look to get Tanner off her back, but not going to lie, I was enjoying their discomfort.
“Are you sure about returning to Moretti Academy?” I asked Sandra.
“Yes. I can’t let what happened stop my life.”
Such a Sandra move.
Before the wedding had started, I’d given her the breakdown about what happened with Louis, and she still seemed affected.
“Aren’t you guys going to dance?” Wendy swayed up to the table holding Perry’s hand, a wide grin plastered on her face.
“I am,” I announced and tugged Beckett after me. I smoothed down the side of the simple sage sheath dress that had a slit running up the side of my leg. “Hey, how’s Thomas?”
Wendy grimaced. “Keeping low. It’s been hard getting him to come out, but I think he’ll work through it on his own time.”
I didn’t blame him.
Beckett pulled me into his arms, and my chest smushed into his. His gaze settled on my lips and then dropped to the swell of my breasts pushing up against him.
“You checking out my boobs?”
His grin widened. “How could I not? You’re mouthwatering.” He grasped my chin, staring me down with such lust that heat bloomed across my cheeks.
“Beckett,” I grumbled.
“Such a cute Runt.”
I scowled.
He pulled me close, and his soft caresses to my spine soon had me noodle-like against him. We swayed in a lulling rhythm, nothing like what boomed through the speakers.
A puff of air exploded against my ear.
“Are you sniffing me again?”
“Yep,” he said unrepentantly. His wide shoulders shifted with his chuckle, and he gripped my wrist. Since he still pressed his head against mine, I couldn’t look down, but I felt it when he slid a ring onto my finger.
“You all planned it.”
He just smiled. I inspected the delicate gold band he’d settled over the one Tanner had given me.
A notch rested above it, and I’d thought it was part of the ring, but no, it was for bands. They’d gotten this together and distributed the parts. I turned it and read the rough surface.
Forever yours.
A knot formed in my throat.
He straightened to his full height, and I pressed my palms to his smooth, clean-shaven face.
“Mine,” I whispered.
His lip quavered, his blue eyes glinting with such emotion. A hint of the child from when I’d first met him.
Wendy sidled next to me.
“Maya, Enzo’s dragging some guy over there.”
“What! Where?”
I grabbed Beckett’s hand and tugged him outside from under the large cream tent that blocked the party from the night sky.
A few yards away, near the edge of the forest, I caught sight of Enzo.
“Why didn’t you guys stop him?” I mumbled to Elliot, who watched with crossed arms.
“Honestly, I’m curious about what he wants to ask too.”
“What the freaking fuck are you doing?” I hissed at Enzo. “Let him go.”
Enzo glared at the officiant. Holy fuck, what was he doing with him?
“I—I was hired to be here. I don’t want any problems.” The middle-aged man lifted his shaking hands.
“I am so sorry,” I gushed. “Ignore him?—”
“Don’t ignore me, I would like to be tied to her.” Tied?
“Tanner! A voice of reason.” I waved my hand at the trembling guy. “I don’t even think this would be valid.”
Tanner swept his attention over the scene, and his lips twitched.
“I will pay for your time,” he said to the officiant whose mouth flapped opened and closed. “Handsomely,” Tanner added.
The man looked at each of us and finally sighed, nodding.
I clicked my teeth together. Arguing was pointless.
Tanner stepped closer to the gray-haired man and held a whispered conversation while I turned to Beckett.
Oh, he was having a good time. I narrowed my eyes at him.
“I get it,” he shrugged. “If I can claim you in every way imaginable, I will.”
I threw my hands up. I turned to Tanner and the officiant as they walked up.
The officiant straightened his shoulders and cleared his throat.
“Do you, Tanner, Elliot, Beckett, and Enzo, take Maya Rios as your wife. Forever to love and protect?”
I blinked repeatedly. They were losing their damn marbles.
They gave their affirmative at the same time, and their voices were difficult to point out. With their words, a swell of matching happiness flitted to me through our mating bonds. Their scents mingled in my nostrils. My pulse shot into overdrive.
“Maya Rios, do you take these four . . . Unnaturals to love and be loyal to for as long as you all may live?”
“I-I do.”
“Then by the power vested in me by the county, I pronounce you husbands and wife.” He cleared his throat. “ Although, I don’t know how legally, ” he mumbled under his breath.
Enzo gripped my hand and slid another ring onto my ring finger, over the one Beckett had recently placed. I had a brief flash of the word engraved— Mine —then Enzo bear-hugged me to his chest and brought me to his lips.
“Can I go?” The officiant’s voice trailed off, falling into the background as I matched Enzo’s passion.
