Epilogue

Roman

Three Weeks Later

I straighten my bow tie for the fifth time. I can't help but be a little nervous. This is Nolia we're talking about. Of course I'm nervous. But I also know she told me she loves me, and I realize what that means to her. I'm also certain...I put trackers on every car or truck she could think about taking to run from me.

Her mom wasn't too happy when we told her we had gotten married. In Italy. About three months ago. I'm pretty sure it was the three-month thing that pissed them off if I had to take a wild guess.

They may not have been too happy about it, but Summer was ecstatic. She even announced it at her reception so everyone else would know too, which made her my new favorite friend.

They quickly forgave me for stealing their daughter when I promised them, they could make the next one as big as they wanted…as long as Nolia was okay with it. And as long as they made it happen quickly. We haven't told them about the baby yet. Both of us want to keep it for just us for a little while longer. Although I think her mom might have her suspicions.

Roan comes in followed by Caspian. Both of them come from inherited money but went into law enforcement -Roan in the local police department and Caspian at a federal level. They might not be related by blood but everyone on our hockey team considers them brothers. And both are best men for me. Along with Spade, Whit, and Bear.

When I told her mom she could make it as big as she wanted, she took it to heart. My little sunbeam has just as many maids-of-honor and flower girls and the church is full of either her family or my friends. I didn't want my mom and dad here. They would only find a way to fucking make me mad or make it about them. But Nolia's family has taken me under their wing much like they did Roan, and we go spend a lot of time with them. And Summer didn't even blink an eye about interrupting her honeymoon to come back for our wedding.

"You gonna be alright man? You look…nervous."

Thank you, Roan, for stating the obvious.

Caspian gives Roan a shove, "You do realize this is the second wedding and that you guys are already married, right? There's no need to be nervous, man."

I give him a raised eyebrow back. They have no idea how my little sunbeam likes to run - which is fine as long as I'm running with her or she's running to me.

"I, for one, am getting the hell out of town. Just in case it's something in the water making the two of you go fucking insane."

Roan and I turn to look at Caspian at the same time, then one another. We know it doesn't matter where you go or how far you run…love is going to find you. And hit you like a bus.

"Those are pretty big words for a man who brought a date to the wedding." Roan gives him shit.

"My grandfather made me bring her, okay!"

Now, I can't help but give him shit, "Sure, buddy. Your grandfather. That's the story we're going with. Did your grandfather also tell you not to take your eyes off her because you've been doing that all day."

I catch a glimpse of movement behind me in the mirror and turn so I can see if my eyes are playing tricks on me, but I'm not. Standing in the doorway is my wife, the mother to my child, and a woman who is my best friend and whole world.

"Can I speak to my husband for a few moments, gentlemen?"

"Isn't it bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding?"

My sunbeam gives Caspian the side eye. "He didn't see me…the first time."

Caspian gives me a look before Roan grabs him and hauls him out, "Come on, man. I've seen her shoot a man for fucking with her sister's happy ending. I would hate to find out what she does to someone standing in the way of her own."

They shut the door behind them as I chuckle at the stark truth of his words.

"What's up, my little sundrop?"

She gives me a sexy smirk before gliding over to me. "I missed you."

I narrow my eyes, "I missed you too."

"You know how we wouldn't let Mom do the whole night apart thing with us like she did with Summer?"

"Yeah, I know." I insisted on it.

"I was thinking…maybe there's another tradition we could break."

My hands go to her hips, "Oh yeah?"

I like where this is going.

I hear the sound of metal clicking into place seconds before something fuzzy touches my wrist. It takes me a full minute before I realize what she's done, as I hold up our handcuffed wrists. The handcuffs are lined in a soft white fur that makes me fight back a chuckle.

"I don't want to wait on walking down an aisle to you. It just isn't our style."

My whole face lights up and my smile grows even bigger. My girl knows just what to give me, just what to do when I need it. "I like how you think. When did you get these?"

"While we were in Italy. The first wedding."

My brow goes way up. "Really?"

"Apparently, I had a plan for them. And I just figured…if you can do it…," she smiles up at me, "isn't there an old saying…When In Rome…"

And that is how we walked down the aisle…handcuffed together and all caught up in each other. Which is how it should be!

The End!
