Chapter 10

Chapter 10

Merritt~

Cutter’s heartbeat was beating steadily underneath my ear, his fingers trailing lazily up and down my back. Not satisfied with christening just his office, Cutter had carried me to his bedroom, and he hadn’t apologized for taking me two more times before finally giving me a second to rest. Where he got his stamina, I had no idea. I knew for a fact that the man didn’t sleep, so it baffled my mind that he could have so much energy.

I also knew that he wasn’t done with me. He’d made that pretty clear after cumming inside me this last time, and I still felt a bit guilty about that. Because we’d been adamant about not wanting children before marriage, Steven and I had always used condoms, doubling up on protection. He hadn’t seemed to mind, and I really hadn’t wanted to get pregnant before getting married.

Nevertheless, protection hadn’t even crossed my mind when Cutter had slammed into me that first time. It hadn’t been until he’d been dripping down my thighs that I’d given any thought to condoms, but what good was locking the barn door once the horses were already out?

“You know, the shot isn’t one-hundred percent effective, Cutter,” I said quietly, his steady breathing and back rub lulling me to sleep.

“Baby, I know that you’re probably still trying to wrap your mind around all this, but I’ve wanted you from the second that you walked into the conference room for your interview,” he said. “I give two fucks if you get pregnant.”

“I’m serious, Cutter,” I chuckled.

“And you think that I’m not?” he huffed. “The only reason that I never said or did anything was because of that ring on your finger. While I might be a bastard when it comes to business, and while I’m going to have a lot to answer for when I meet my maker, adultery will be nowhere on my list of offenses, no matter what.”

Though he was right, and I was still trying to wrap my mind around all this, there was one glaring fact that couldn’t be ignored. “What about work?”

“What about it?”

“Don’t be obtuse, Mr. Moore,” I chastised.

“What do you want me to say, Merritt?” he asked. “Because if your plan is for me to keep you my dirty little secret, that’s not going to work for me.”

“I just got out of a relationship, Cutter,” I reminded him. “I’m going to look…it’s just not a good look to jump into bed with your boss days after ending your engagement to another man.”

“Life would be so much simpler if women didn’t give a fuck what other people thought,” he remarked. “Why do you feel like you’d owe anyone an explanation? Your family, sure. I get that, baby. But the rest of the world? They’re not owed shit.”

“Cutter, your face is all over the internet and news,” I said pointedly. “Anything that has to do with Moore Industries is newsworthy, so do you honestly believe that people aren’t going to expect some kind of statement about your love life if this goes public?”

“Merritt, you’ve got me confused with people that don’t have anything better to do with their lives than live for the internet,” he huffed. “Let people say or think what they want about me, I honestly don’t give a fuck.”

“You can’t escape the direction in which the world is heading these days, Cutter,” I replied. “The expectation of privacy no longer exists.”

“It does for me,” he argued. “Since I don’t crave attention and have no problem working hard for a living, I give two fucks what the internet says or speculates about me or Moore Industries.”

I propped my chin up on his chest. “That’s kind of harsh, don’t you think? Not all internet personalities are lazy or are only seeking attention.”

Cutter leaned up to kiss my forehead. “We’ll agree to disagree on that one.”

“Well, that still leaves us trying to figure out how this is supposed to work, Cutter,” I said. “While I’m not looking to be a skeleton in your closet, I also don’t want to be known as the whore that’s riding Cutter Moore’s dick.”

Instead of a response to that, Cutter grabbed my hips, then draped me over his body, my legs falling perfectly over his hips, straddling me over his soft dick that wasn’t going to remain soft for long. We were both completely naked, and I was already feeling heady with the feel of his body against me and the warmth of his skin.

Looking up into my eyes, he said. “I’m not dismissing your genuine concerns, because they’re valid, whether I like it or not. However, either you want to be with me or not, Merritt. As complicated as that might sound, it’s really quite simple. After all, those are you’re only two choices in this.”

If we lived in a perfect world, people wouldn’t judge one another. If we lived in a perfect world, we’d mind our own business and focus on our own happiness. If we lived in a perfect world, my work ethic would be all that mattered, regardless of my relationship with Cutter. However, we didn’t live in a perfect world, and I didn’t even live in Cutter Moore’s world where he could afford not to give a crap about what other people thought of him. Cutter didn’t give anyone any ammunition to use against him, so if anyone did say anything about him, they risked a lawsuit if their words came with no proof. So, unlike Cutter, I didn’t have the money or power to live by my own rules.

Still, he wasn’t wrong.

The choice was complicatingly simple.

Staring down at his gorgeous face, I knew that there was no going back. In fact, I’d known it the second that I hadn’t run out of his office after he’d taken his shirt off. Though impulsive, I’d still made a decision that I needed to be brave enough to see all the way through.

I readjusted my knees, so that I was positioned exactly where I needed to be, and I could feel Cutter getting hard underneath me already, his hands warm on my hips. Though my life had been pretty boring these past few months, everyone knew that life was unpredictable and hard decisions were going to have to be made at some point during the journey.

“I want to be with you,” I told him truthfully. “If things don’t work out, I don’t want it to be because I was scared to even try.”

Cutter used his hands to glide me back and forth over his hard length. “If it’s really a concern, I’ll make Cotter switch assistants with me,” he offered, and it really was getting hard not to fall in love with him a little every time that he opened his mouth.

“You hate Sumner,” I reminded him, a low moan escaping as the head of his dick hit my clit.

“I don’t hate him,” he lied. “I just…I can only tolerate him in small doses.”

“You hang up on him whenever he calls you,” I pointed out. “God, that feels good…”

“You need my cock again, baby?” he asked, his voice a raspy sound of need. “Because I can tell you that my cock definitely needs you again.”

I placed my hands on his chest, lifting my hips to allow him access to where I needed him. “I need you inside me, Cutter.”

Cutter reached between our bodies, then grabbed the base of his dick to help guide it inside me. As soon as I felt the velvety smooth head breach my opening, I lowered my body, taking every inch of him deep. I let out a gasp when I felt him seated fully inside me, and I felt a shiver race throughout my body, my need for him growing with each second.

“I’ll do my best to keep my hands to myself at the office, but you better be in my bed every night in exchange for the effort,” he grunted as he moved his hips to slide in deeper.

“I can’t move in with you, Cutter,” I moaned.

“The fuck you can’t,” he argued, his fingers digging into my hips as I started riding him.

“Cutter-”

“Every fucking night, baby,” he repeated. “I want you in my bed every fucking night.”

“Oh, God…” I gasped as I felt him grab a handful of my ass. “Cutter…”

“Your pussy was made for me, Merritt,” he grunted. “Everything about you was made for me.”

“Make me cum, Cutter…” I demanded. “Oh, God…please…”

“Not until you agree to move in with me,” the bastard said. “And if you think that I can’t edge you all night long, then you’re very mistaken.”

“Cutter, that’s blackmail,” I complained, though it really wasn’t a complaint with the way that he felt inside me.

“Runs in the family,” he replied, making me wonder what in the hell that meant. “Just say yes, and I promise your life will be so much easier.”

After working for Cutter Moore for two years, I should have known that he wasn’t the type of man to bluff. His hands gripped my thighs, then he forced me to take him as deeply as I could, not moving while he was lodged deep inside me.

I looked down at him, then gave him the only answer that I could right now. “Fine.”

“That’s my good girl,” he said before making good on all his bedroom promises.
