—First Sermon, Church of Bounty
In the beginning, The Shadow created the world.
The mountains, the valleys. Virgin forests and the rivers cutting through them. Rock threaded with shimmering ore.
The Shadow created the plants, animals, and fungi, and said to them, "Feast upon the world."
But The Shadow wasn't satisfied with a world only he could see.
As if his world were a tapestry, he tore through the fabric small holes only a few could find.
The Mother was the first to enter.
The Shadow loved her so deeply that he gifted her a piece of him. From the gift, The Mother created a weapon—a fierce, antlered creature tasked with seeking out those most loyal to her.
For The Mother knew The Shadow's power could destroy the mountains, the valleys. Virgin forests and the rivers cutting through them. Rock threaded with shimmering ore.
The Mother knew The Shadow could destroy her, too.
