Micaela Chapter 14
My mind was blank as I stared at my brother standing there. What did he want? Was he here to fight with me and say more hateful stuff to me? If so, he needed to turn around and leave. I stood, blocking access to my room. Until I knew what he wanted, he wasn't stepping a foot inside.
"Mic, we need to talk. Can I come in?" he asked.
"It depends on what you want to say. If it's to lecture and degrade me, then no."
"I wasn't lecturing you or degrading you last time. Yes, I got upset. I just can't believe the path you're taking. Have you really thought this through? They insinuated you're on board with being with all three of them. Is that true?"
I was about to answer him when a door down the hall from my room opened, and an older lady came out. She cast us curious glances as she slowly passed us. I saw her pause before turning down the short hall to the elevator. Not wanting to air my business to the entire hotel, I relented and stepped back so he could come inside. Shutting the door behind him, I hoped I hadn't made a colossal mistake. Deep down, I was praying this meant he was willing to listen and see reason. I waved him to the chair while I sat on the bed. If people kept hanging out here, I'd have to see about more chairs.
"To answer you, I have thought it through, and it's true, I agree with them. I want to be in this with all three of them. And for the record, you were lecturing, and you did degrade me. Are you ready to talk civilly?"
"I can't believe that in a matter of a few weeks, you're convinced you're falling for three men and want to be in a whatever with them."
"Why not? You fell for Shain in the same amount of time."
"That's different," he dismissed.
"How? I don't see that it is."
"Because she wasn't like them, we had time to concentrate on the two of us. You can't tell me you've had enough time with each of them to know all you need to know to commit to them."
"And neither did you. You're still learning about Shain, and you're married. You're having a baby, for God's sake, Rome."
"We are, but we knew enough to know we wanted no others, and this was meant to be. How can it be meant to be with more than one of them?"
"Did you say all this to Bullet and Phalanx when they claimed Raine?"
He shook his head. "It was different."
"What you mean is two men would be fine, but since I want three, it makes it unacceptable, and I need to be shown it's a mistake." My temper was itching to be set loose, and my lack of sleep was fraying my hold on it.
"It is a mistake. I love you, and I'm not letting you make this blunder. You're setting yourself up for heartbreak. They're my brothers, but they're manwhores. They love the ladies. You're a fool if you think they'll remain faithful or stick around. If you persist, I'll go to Sin and the other members. I'll make sure they don't vote you in as their old lady. If the club doesn't give a majority vote for it, then they're done." I heard satisfaction in his voice. As if he already knew they wouldn't.
I'd heard enough. I stood up. "Get the fuck out of my room. You don't know shit about them or us, you hypocrite. So it's fine for you to find someone and claim her in a matter of days, but it's not okay for me to find who I want to be with and do the same. You're a piece of work. As for you turning the club against us, try it. I think you might be surprised. If they're alright with a triad, why wouldn't they be fine with a reverse harem? I have news for you. Even if the club says no, we're going to be together. This is my life!" I hollered.
"Well, you're fucking it up! Why the hell are you so determined to do this? Are you that starved for male attention you're willing to take it anywhere you can get it?"
My hand was itching to slap him, but I refused to get physical again. Marching past him, I went to the door. I yanked it open and then pointed into the hallway. "Leave. Now."
He got up and stomped over to me, glaring at me. "Don't say I didn't warn you," he said before he walked out. I slammed the door behind him before engaging the safety latch and the lock. I threw myself on the bed and then let the tears come. I have no clue how long I cried before there was another knock on the door. Christ, who was it now? I lay there, not moving.
