Chapter 63
CHAPTER 63
I 'd shunted aside the shock of seeing a dead man attacking Rose. I was in mission mode. I had Geoffrey in my arms, but then we were hit by something big and fast, a blur of fur, and we splashed into the Little Melvin and were immediately swept away.
Déjà vu all over again.
I heard Rose yelling to me as she ran along the riverbank. I bumped up against Geoffrey and our eyes locked. Blood was pouring out of a gash in his forehead. I glanced downstream, then shifted my grip, both hands around his neck, and shoved him downstream of me just as we reached a boulder that was big enough to stick out of the water. I felt the impact of his body and head on the rock and he stopped fighting me for the moment.
