5. Cara
Chapter 5
Cara
I float through my three hours of tutoring. I’m so tempted to pull out my phone and fire off a quick thank-you message to Hunter, but the flow of kids is non-stop, and I figure it’s probably good not to be that eager.
Plus, just in case he’s online when I message him, I’d rather be alone in my dorm room if we end up exchanging dozens of messages the way we did last night.
My cheeks feel like they’re on fire by the time I get back to campus.
I called him Daddy. And he liked it.
I race up the stairs and throw myself through my door, locking it behind me for good measure .
Grinning like an idiot, I open the app and tap into my DMs.
And then my grin falls away.
Idiot is right, though.
Where Hunter’s profile picture had been last night, now there’s just a gray, anonymous illustration. A generic profile “picture”.
Fingers shaking, I click on it to see our messages, but the chat thread won’t even open. All I get is an error message pop up instead: this user cannot be found.
The best kiss of his life?
I don’t think so.
But that jerk stole my first kiss and then ghosted me.
And right before Christmas, too.
