Epilogue

EPILOGUE

Two years later . . .

Like I do every morning, I sip my coffee as I watch the sunrise. The house and our land are quiet. Not even the animals are awake yet. The dogs are snoring on top of Nico and waiting for him to feed them. Dimitri’s computers are turned off and have been for days, since he prefers to spend his time with us now. Jonas continues to build weapons, only now he sells them to the good guys. Louis, as it turns out, is very good at restoration, and we updated our house and started on the property together. Maybe in time, we’ll make that a business, but for now, we are just enjoying life. Isaac fully embraced his role as vet and qualified in it. His days of being a doctor are behind him—unless Jonas and I get too rough during sex—and he now spends his days helping animals rather than patching bullet wounds.

And me?

My smile grows as I watch the colours spread across the sky. I got everything I wanted. I’m never alone anymore. I have a family who loves me more than anything else in this world. I have men willing to kill for me. I still train, but not religiously. I’m more than my body and what it’s capable of, after all. I still haven’t figured out what I’ll do with the rest of my life, but I have plenty of time.

“Baby?” comes a sleepy voice behind me.

I open my eyes as I glance down at my ring, the ring they all had made for me, before I turn to see Louis. “Hey,” I whisper. “Go back to sleep. I’ll be there in a second.”

“You better or we’ll find you,” he warns.

I nod, knowing they will.

They prove how much they love me every day, and I finally started to believe it and let go of my pain and my past. My heart still aches when I think of everything we lost, including my sister, but I’m more determined than ever to enjoy the life we have because nothing is guaranteed.

So, I stop and watch the sunrise, feel the breeze, and dance in storms and remember . . .

Life is so much more than what others want for us. There is a big, wide world out there just waiting for us to find our happiness in whatever shape or form that comes in.

My happiness just so happens to be in an old Italian villa with six incredible men, a father I never lost, five dogs, three cats, a donkey, two horses, a pig, and a llama.

I head inside our home and back to my men where my heart pulls me, the floor under me protecting the very thing that created us.

Our secret we will always protect.

Together.
