Chapter 22
Orgasm Hangovers and Horsepower
It was the shrill ringing of Maddox's phone that woke them, and Haven rolled over, groaned and yanked the pillow out from under his new Daddy's head so he could plop it over his own before the noise could fully wake him. For once he'd been blissfully asleep and lost in a pleasant dream that he wasn't in the mood to be yanked out of, though it seemed like he was going to have to give up on that, with how animated Maddox sounded, even through a wall of thick pillow fluff.
Movement accompanied his words, then the pillow was yanked off Haven's head and Maddox's lips were suddenly on his and being woken up was suddenly the very best thing in the world.
"Chaos found the last part," Maddox growled against his lips.
"Fuck me, did you just wake me up to tell me that I had more work to do then when I fell asleep?"
"Pretty much," Maddox replied, then went right back to kissing him,
Haven kissed back just as eagerly, moaning at the feel of Maddox's body covering his and how easily he was dwarfed by the other man. He started trying to shove a hand between them, eager to get to the good stuff, only Maddox captured it before he could reach his destination, and stretched it up over their heads, pinning it to the pillow.
"How is that even fair?" Haven whined against his lips. "The least you could have done was wake me with your mouth in other places. The alarm hasn't even gone off yet. How many more minutes of sleep was I supposed to get?"
As if on cue, the alarm on Haven's phone went off and he groaned and thunked his head against the pillow several times, complaining about the unfairness of the universe.
Maddox chuckled at that and kissed the tip of his nose. "Raincheck?"
"I hate you so hard right now."
"Does that mean no to the raincheck?"
"It means that I don't want to get out of this bed and go down to the shop and do anything that remotely resembles replacing the catalytic converter on a Jeep, which is the first job I need to tackle this morning."
Maddox caressed his cheek and brushed his hair back from it, then leaned in to brush a kiss across his lips that ended too soon. "Unfortunately, that's exactly what you need to do while I start getting that paperwork in order for you, but there's nothing saying we can't have a bit of fun in the shower first."
"Only by a bit, you actually mean a little this time, don't you?"
"Unfortunately."
Groaning, Haven closed his eyes. "Dammit."
"Once I find a house, we will have a weekend of nothing but you pinned to my bed getting everything you ask for," Maddox promised. "I love that you're eager to have my hands back on you, but we do have things we need to accomplish today. I don't want you to feel like you have to make up this morning by working late tonight. I'd like to take my time with you later, but I won't be able to do that if you're still under an Oldsmobile."
"I hate that you're right," Haven muttered.
When Maddox moved, it was like he took a warm blanket of hazy softness with him. Reluctantly, Haven sat up, wishing he could cling to the feel of the bed and his Daddy and everything that had made it easy to close his eyes without running through a hundred and one ways he could fuck up. Now that he was moving, that anxiety tried to wiggle its way back to the forefront, only Maddox hooked an arm around the back of his neck and pulled him into a scorching, toe curling kiss that left him moaning and trying to climb into his Daddy's lap. Even after it ended, Haven still sat dazed and blinking into Maddox's face as the man eased back from him.
"Stay out of your head," Maddox murmured. "I could see you getting tense the moment you started to think about what you needed to do. Remember what you told me, about one thing at a time? That's what you need to hang on to. That's what will keep your thoughts from spiraling into dark, uncomfortable places. Focus on the catalytic converter and the steps to replacing one. Go get the shower started. I need to take the pup outside for a few minutes."
"Okay."
"That's my good boy," Maddox praised and immediately, Haven felt a little bit lighter and more focused on doing what his Daddy had said to do and not letting stray thoughts take over.
"There are more burgers in the refrigerator if he's hungry," Haven offered.
"How many did you give him last night?"
"Two, since he's kinda big, though it doesn't look like he's finished growing yet."
"Because he hasn't. We can take the burgers and his bowls down with him to the shop. Is it alright if he stays with you this afternoon while I run errands? He's had a lot of changes in the last few days, and I don't want to leave him at the apartment alone."
"Hell yeah, we'll make a safe spot for him," Haven offered. "S.O.X. didn't seem to mind him last night so I don't think it will be an issue."
"I'll get a space fixed up for him at my shop tomorrow, that way he won't think I'm abandoning him."
The pup's tail started wagging the moment Maddox headed over to pet him, but when Haven heard him start sweet talking the dog, his heart melted. He'd already gotten a glimpse of the man's gentle side when he'd been talking him down after he'd nearly worked himself into a panic attack worrying about what the detective was going to do to his business. Now he saw him take the time to just sit in front of the dog and love up on him with pets and praise until he'd stood and put his head on Maddox's shoulder, huffed, and let the man hug him while his tail wagged a thousand miles a minute. Someday, Haven hoped to earn the dog's trust enough that he could hug him too. For the time being, he needed to get moving and do as he'd been told, shocked to see a little square of paper on the floor just in front of his door when he went to open it.
When he unfolded it, he spotted River's handwriting and a winking smiley face above the note he'd left.
Don't rush down. I'll handle any intakes and paperwork if someone calls. Enjoy your Daddy and GET SOME FUCKIN' SLEEP! Love you, bro.
Haven giggled at that and left the room, stopping at the linin closet to grab a couple fresh towels and a washcloth for Maddox. He'd already stripped, stepped beneath the spray, and scrubbed the dried cum from his skin by the time Maddox joined him and tugged at the washcloth he held.
"I grabbed you one, it's on the edge of the sink," Haven said, even as he relinquished his.
"I know, I saw it, I'll get it in a minute," Maddox replied. "Now turn around and put your hands on the wall."
He nearly got himself tangled in the line for the detachable shower head, he turned so fast, and like the night before, Maddow took his time washing his back, caressing his abs, holding him until he started to realize that this was what real intimacy was. This was what River was talking about. Maddox wasn't out to just fuck him through the sheets every time they saw one another, even when that was the only thing Haven ever asked him for. He'd clearly known that Haven needed more than that before Haven was able to recognize it for himself and as that washcloth drew soapy circles across his shoulders, he was flooded with gratitude.
Maddox's fingers slid through his hair, separating the strands, then tugging just enough to tip Haven's head back as he reached around him to rub the cloth over his chest. With his hands braced against the wall and his head controlled by Maddox, once again, all he could do was feel. It tickled a little, to feel the cloth run over his ribs, and he couldn't help but squirm as best he could as he giggled and twisted only to feel the heat of Maddox's breath against his ear.
"Ticklish, huh? We're going to have fun with that."
"Like with feathers and stuff?" Haven blurted. "Are you gonna tie me up with soft ropes and find all my ticklish spots?"
"That can be arranged."
Shivering, Haven nearly choked on water when he felt the cloth wrap around his cock. Maddix stroked him gently, working him to full hardness as the water poured over them. Guided by Maddox's hand pressing against his hip, he turned to see that he'd dropped to one knee, their eyes meeting for a heated moment, before Maddox grabbed his hips and pushed him back against the wall. When his Daddy's lips parted, then wrapped around his cock, Haven moaned, tipped his head back and almost drowned himself as water flowed up his nose. Of course, that just meant that Maddox released him and chuckled until Haven pulled himself together again. He wanted to touch too, and reached out to trace the silver streak that ran through a section of his Daddy's long hair. Darker with the water running through it, it was still silky, and soft against his hand when Maddox nuzzled it, then kissed his palm.
He'd never felt so connected to someone like this, not even Jeremy and it scared him a little that it was happening so fast, but Maddox made it so easy.
"We have to have these conversations. I'm proud of you for voicing your fears. That was a very mature approach to take. You just gave me a gift without even knowing it."
Haven yawned, then sighed before asking, "How?"
"You trusted me."
The praise had felt amazing. Maddox gave it freely whenever he felt Haven had earned it and that was beginning to be something he craved.
"In the future, you are to come to me whenever you are feeling stressed or insecure about anything, do you understand that? Because that is going to be rule number one and I expect you to obey it."
It was easy to obey rules when they weren't restrictions on his freedom. Most of what he'd thought he knew about Daddy Doms was that they were all about giving order and controlling their sub's behaviors. Haven had thought they were the leaders, and their boys followed or they got replaced, but Maddox was starting to show him all the ways that thinking was wrong. His daddy wrapped his lips around him again and all thought fled as he was sucked, licked and fondled to another soul shattering completion.
Somehow Daddy held him pressed to the wall with one hand and finished cleaning him with the other while he drifted, trembling and seeing light shapes move like a lava lamp behind his eyes.
"I think you're as clean as you're going to get," Maddox murmured as he kissed his inner thigh, then nipped hard enough that Haven's eyes flew open and he stared down at him, all his focus and attention dialed in on his Daddy. "Go dry off and get dressed. I'll join you in your room in a minute."
"Want me to grab your clothes out of the dryer?"
"Please," Maddox replied as he stood and gave him a light slap on the thigh. "Now get moving so I can wash. It's going to be a busy day, and I doubt we can put off starting it much longer."
"Yes, Daddy."
Maddox smiled at that and backed away, leaving Haven to snag a towel as he stepped past the curtain, dripping water all over the rug River had placed there. He hastily dried off so he wouldn't leave a trail to the dryer, grabbed Maddox's clothes, which River had already folded and left on top of the dryer, and entered to see the dog sprawled in the middle of his bed. The moment the pup saw him, he crouched and cowered like he expected Haven to yell. It broke a little piece of him to see that.
"It's okay, boy, I don't mind," Haven murmured, keeping his voice low and soothing as he placed Maddox's folded clothes on the nightstand.
The dog still eyed him warily and started scooting backward when Haven moved to sit on the bed.
"You don't have to be scared. I won't hurt you," Haven cooed as he sat and held his hand out, not touching but close enough that the pup could sniff him if he wanted to. "You can sleep on my bed anytime you want. I'll never yell at you for it."
The pup gave an experimental thump of its tail against the mattress and twisted sheets and Haven smiled when he stretched his neck out and his cold nose touched his hand. The dog licked him too, just a tiny flick of the tongue, and Haven smiled wider. "We're gonna be best friends and have so much fun with our new Daddy. He's awesome and I bet he'll praise you and tell you what a good boy you are the same as he does with me. I know you're a little scared right now and that's okay. We're both gonna be okay."
As if answering him, the pup gave a little woof, then inched forward enough that Haven finally had the opportunity to stroke his head. It might mean that he delayed dressing a little bit longer, but he stroked and petted and talked to the pup until he'd wormed his way across his towel clad lap and lay with Haven's hair dripping water on his fur.
"If you were my pup, I think I'd name you Bear, ‘cause you kind of look like a Bear, with that ruff, or Loki, ‘cause once you're settled in I think you're gonna pull some epic stunts that are gonna make Daddy shake his head at you and ask me if I taught you how to do that. What about Loki-Bear, would you like that? I think that would be cool. I bet no other dog would ever be named Loki-Bear."
"You might be right about that."
Haven glanced up and drew his shoulders in a little, trying to shrink himself down to undetectable size as he was reminded by his Daddy's presence that he was really supposed to be dressed by now.
"Loki-Bear, huh," Maddox said as he paused and placed on hand on Haven's shoulder, rubbing lightly as he settled his other hand on the dog, whose tail was thumping on the bed like he was beating a snare drum. "Do you like that boy?"
When the pup just wagged more, Maddox smiled over at him. "It looks like you've just named our dog."
"O-our?" Haven stammered.
"You're my boy, right?"
"Yes, sir."
"Do you intend to be my boy for a long time to come?"
Nodding, Haven practically tripped over his tongue blurting, "Yes, Daddy."
"Then Loki-Bear is our dog."
"Does that mean you'll think of S.O.X. as your cat too?"
"As long as he keeps his claws off my paintjob."
"Daddy," Haven said before the sentiment could overwhelm him, "you don't even have a paintjob left for him to fuck up."
"So you keep reminding me, brat," Maddox said before messing up Haven's hair worse than it was from the towel. "Now get dressed. If we stall any longer your brother might come looking for us."
"Nass, he slipped a note under the door before he went down, telling me to take my time."
"And you're just telling me this now?" Maddox asked.
"Yes sir."
"Why?"
"Cause if I'd told you before I left the room, you'd have pinned me to the bed by now."
"You're damned skippy!"
"So I decided to help you help me be responsible," Haven said. "If I work smart, I can have all of my purchase orders completed and your Electra Glide put back and running right by the close of business on Friday night."
"Is that right?"
"Yup, and you know what that means?" Haven asked.
"What?"
"I get to take you up on that offer for more wind therapy."
"Bet."
