67. Kassian
Chapter sixty-seven
Kassian
Saturday, January 13, 2024
I called Kat last night to see how she was doing but couldn't get much of a response. It seems she's overwhelmed, and with her anxiety, I can absolutely understand that. She isn't used to the constant media coverage, and having her life on display for the world to see is something she hasn't gotten used to yet.
I'm confident that she will, though, one day. She and Alessandro are endgame, plain and simple.
I grab my phone, staring at the screen and hoping that'll magically make a text from Aiyana appear, but it doesn't. We haven't spoken much since I dropped her off at work. I texted her to see how Kat was really doing, and she gave me the condensed version that eased my worry a bit.
How're you guys doing this morning?
Little Viper
Kas, open your search engine and type in your sister's name.
Her words send a boulder sinking straight to the pit of my stomach. I frantically swipe our message thread away, finding the search bar and typing in "Katarina Narvaez." What I see makes me fucking nauseous—the media spinning tales for their own gain. Nothing new, but terrible all the same, especially when it's about my sister.
Has Kat seen yet?
Little Viper
I don't know. She hasn't left her room yet.
Little Viper
I'm calling Alessandro now.
I'll be over soon.

The rest of the day doesn't get much better.
