I t's just before bed when Kas's nightly texts come rolling in. The dread I felt before doesn't follow them, though, and it's a relief.

I know he says he'll use our current arrangement to win me over, but I've made it clear that it won't be happening. He's an adult, and he's choosing to throw caution to the wind. I can't say I'm not at fault if and when he gets hurt because I absolutely am, but I'm also certain he isn't going to be moving on with someone else while I'm even the least bit accessible.

Besides, I'm proud of Kas because he's held off on texting me most of the day, only sending me a few memes here or there.

So, my sister and Alice got their heads out of their asses…

Speaking of which, I heard you helped Kat plan their first real date… on your birthday?

So, clearly you're free.

You act as if I don't have any friends aside from Kat…

You don't.

He's not wrong. I have acquaintances and people I enjoy being around or speaking to, but since moving in with Kat, I never felt the need to branch out. I always just felt at home with her and Kas.

His words don't upset me though. I've never felt I needed anyone else. My parents are the best I could ask for, and Kat and I have been inseparable since the day we met. They're all I need.

I'll hand over the reins for the evening *insert side eye emoji*

I'm rolling my eyes so hard at you right now.

But sure, you can come over.

Only if you bring dinner though. And it is NOT a date. A girl's gotta eat.
