EPILOGUE
MAEVE
Three months later…
“I now pronounce you man and wife.” The Elvis impersonator slid his sunglasses down his nose and winked.
I squeezed Elliot’s hand and hit send on the perfect text.
Elliot slyly checked his phone. His face lit up as he took in the epic beauty of the ultimate image.
Freddie Mercury.
Completely nude.
Tastefully covered by the mane of the white unicorn he was riding into the sunset.
And the groom, Todd, kissed his bride, Tatianna. It wasn’t as beautiful as my text, but it was nice, too. Only three months had passed between the time they met and their Vegas wedding. The two of them were perfect for each other—both flaming poo throwers, both model-pretty, and both genuinely good people.
Everyone should be so lucky.
“I think I spotted a photo booth in the corner.” Elliot nodded off to the side.
“Do you need to hide from someone?”
“No. I need to make out with the woman I love.”
Love? I’d been feeling it. I’d hoped he’d been feeling it. But we hadn’t said the words.
“Who would that be?”
He chuckled. “You, Maeve. Forever, you.”
Elliot was my Hot Stranger. He was my knight in shining armor. He was my partner in crime, my player two. He was my business partner at the arcade Otto sold to me for practically nothing. He was the man who’d claimed my heart.
Even though there were no three words that could ever feel like enough to express what I felt for Elliot, I said the ones that felt closest. “I love you, too.”
Thanks for reading Maeve and Elliot’s story. I hope you enjoyed their schemes.
It’s Ruby and Beau’s turn next to transform their work rivalry into something unexpected—love.
