Chapter Five 157
Chapter Five
Cait
The last few months have been a whirlwind. He comes home from his jobs with that same dark look in his eyes, then I occupy every minute he is home. Life is more than sex, but we have such magnificent chemistry, why wouldn't we fuck like rabbits.
Why shouldn't we? Fuck it. Forget about Prince Charming. I went for the wolf. He gnashes his teeth, he sees me better, and, oh dear lord, does he eat me better. He makes my soul sing. And we play sweet fucked up music together. When I told him this, he answered with; “You're beautiful Princess, but how you bring me to my knees annihilates me.”
I will gladly take that compliment. He is the best lover I have ever had. He makes me feel safer than I could have ever predicted. Except when he gets ready for a job. I see the darkness seeping into him. His whole body morphs into this aphotic being. His eyes almost look, well, dead. I feel sorry for the construction workers he is going to reprimand. I would shit my pants if someone who looked like him came to my job site to fire me, or whatever it was he did. He looks so imposing.
I hated that he left me for so long. This next job he was going to will have him gone for at least two weeks, could be longer. That was like a gut punch to me. What was I supposed to do? Sit around and be worried?
Fuck that.
I'm going with him.
I took time off work and I'm ready to do something.
Tracker
My given name was Nyan Parker. I legally changed it to Tracker Pace ten years ago. Not wanting to be found, I use both aliases, and sometimes threw a third in. I own five safe houses. It was necessary after they found Susan and killed her. I'd tried so hard to keep her safe. I was so foolish and naive to think I could.
I was finishing putting my bags in the car when I saw Cait jump in the passenger seat. I started shaking my head no.
Walking around to the driver’s seat, I climbed in. Without looking at her, I muttered, “Not a chance.”
That's when I felt the pressure on my wrist. She had a set of furry covered handcuffs. One was clamped on her wrist and now the other on mine. She sat in the passenger seat looking quite proud of himself .
“You know these kind of handcuffs have a little lever that can click them off,” I said as I was turning my wrist over, looking for the piece of metal sticking out so I could slide the furry bracelet off.
“Nope,” she grinned, “I bought these at the army supply store, they are legit,” she giggled. “I glued the fur on so I wouldn't get a scar.” She had a grin from ear to ear. She was quite proud of herself.
“Okay, you have had your fun, now take them off.”
She looked at me very seriously. “I will take them off when we get to your next job.”
I sat there staring at her in shock for far too long. She’d accomplished a feat that no one had ever even attempted in too many years to count.
Cait
I could tell he didn't know what to do. He was stuck between aggravation and amusement.
“I'm going with you,” I replied calmly.
He shook his head no.
“You can tell your head I said yes,” she replied .
“Tell my head?” He chuckled.
“Yes. The annoying thing keeps saying no.” I grinned at him.
“It's too dangerous.” He shrugged like it was the end of the discussion.
“I will stay at the hotel.” I knew I was being belligerent, but I didn't care.
He grumbled a little bit, I could see a war of emotions flitting across his face. “Fine. But you stay in the room. You have to promise not to leave it.” He was emphatic.
I was giddy. “I promise!” Giving him a big kiss, I pulled the key out of my bra and handed it over.
“You are such a brat,” he grunted as he started the car.
“Yes, but I'm your brat,” I smiled with a big cheesy grin.
