Epilogue
ONE YEAR LATER
When I walkedinto our house, the one Bel and I had bought together last year, I smiled at the sound of music filtering through the air.
My sweet Bel had made a name for himself as an amazing music teacher, and he had students of all ages, from little kids to grown adults. It had taken a lot of work to get those first few students because people were so wary of the fae. But after Anton had recommended him to a friend, that friend sent his kid to Bel. Once he'd gained the trust of a few people, the word spread and others flocked to him, like I'd known they would.
Tan still took lessons sometimes, although Bel didn't make him sign up officially or pay or anything like that.
But since Tan bought the house next door, he was over here all the time, hanging out, eating dinner with us, or playing guitar with my mate. We both loved that he felt so comfortable in our home.
Tan had decided to stay here with me after we finished our initial business setup, and I was eternally grateful for it since Isa and Savelle went back to Brinnswick. The two of them still visited often—using the portal that Delaro moved from the old apartment building to a shed in our backyard—and they would stay with us for a few days at a time, but it wasn't the same.
So I was beyond happy I had at least one of my friends—my family members other than Bel—here with us. Because Tan was definitely family.
Plus, I kinda liked having the little goof around anyway.
Sav and Isa ran the business in Brinnswick, and Tan and I continued growing it here. I had high hopes of setting up in other territories in Gauhala, but that was something to do in the far future.
I walked into the room on the side of the house where Bel taught his lessons and leaned my shoulder against the doorjamb while I watched him finish up.
My dads had freaked when we'd told them about having lessons in the house. So Tan, Delaro, and my dads figured out a way to spell one room in the house that would allow people to come inside without messing with the integrity of the rest of the wards. We'd added a side entrance for Bel's students to use, which left the rest of the house closed off to strangers. And bonus, all Bel had to do was whisper a few words, and the spell would forcibly remove the other person from our property.
We'd tested it out a bunch of times, and it worked perfectly, so it was a new feature we were implementing into the security business. Bel wasn't the only person who had to let strangers into his house for work, so this was a great option for those cases.
Bel and the little eight-year-old girl finished their song, and I clapped, making them both jump. "You two sounded excellent."
The little girl blushed and looked down, and Bel rolled his eyes, waving me off even though I could feel his appreciation in my chest.
"Keep practicing this week, and we'll move on to the second part of the song next time, okay?" Bel said to her.
She nodded. "I will. Thank you!" She packed up her guitar, and by the time she was finished, her mom was waiting at the door to pick her up.
Once they were gone, I shut the door behind them and set my hand against the runes on the door frame, activating the full wards for the entire property. When I turned around, Bel walked straight into my arms, and I didn't hesitate to hold him tight against me.
"How was your day?" he asked, his voice muffled in my chest.
"Fine. Better now."
He leaned back to grin up at me. "Sap."
It was true, so I lifted one shoulder. "You ready for your show tonight?"
In addition to teaching, Bel played shows around town at different bars. He seemed to really enjoy it, although he still went out to busk every now and then.
"That's because you get a different vibe when you busk. And it's fun."
I smiled. "There you go, reading my thoughts again."
He snorted. "You shouldn't think so loudly if you don't want me overhearing."
I laughed and kissed the tip of his nose. "I don't mind."
"Uh-huh. Come make me dinner before we have to leave."
"Since when did I become your personal chef?" I teased, leaning down to grab his ass.
"Since I decided it's much safer for you to cook than me, especially when we're in a hurry."
I laughed. Bel wasn't a terrible cook, but he was right about the being in a hurry part. The last time he was rushing in the kitchen, he caught two potholders on fire, and when I ran in, he was using the fire extinguisher on them. It made a horrible mess, and we'd ended up having to order out that night, but at least no one had gotten hurt… except for the potholders.
Reaching down to the backs of his thighs, I lifted him until he wrapped his arms and legs around me. I carried him into the kitchen and set him down on the island but stayed between his legs so I could kiss him for a little while longer.
Unfortunately, I had to pull away because we really did need to hurry if we wanted to get to his show on time.
"I changed my mind. No food, only kisses."
With a chuckle, I gave him another long kiss, then broke apart and went to the fridge.
"You know what I was thinkin' about earlier today?" he asked.
"What?"
"The coin."
It wasn't necessary to go into more detail than that. We both knew exactly what coin he meant.
"What about it?"
"Just how weird it is that we haven't seen it since the whole… Luynore thing."
I stopped and leaned my ass against the counter, standing across from him so I could meet his gaze. "It did seem kind of random that it showed up that last day, then disappeared before we even got home. But… I think it was trying to warn me you were in trouble."
"You really think so?"
I nodded. "I do."
He thought about it for a few seconds. "That makes sense. Pretty sure it's the luckiest coin to ever exist."
"Yeah?"
"Well, it brought you to me, didn't it?"
I couldn't help but smile at that, and I walked back over to him, wrapping my arms around his back and pulling his body against mine. "I'm definitely the luckiest man alive."
He kissed me and hummed against my lips. "I say we eat sandwiches tonight."
"Oh?"
"Yep. Saves time. Take me to bed, wolf boy."
"With pleasure." I picked him up, claimed his mouth, and stumbled through the house to our bedroom with both of us laughing, my heart full and happier than I thought it could ever be.
When I'd first moved halfway across the world, I'd been looking for a change, but I never could've imagined just how much change was coming.
Or how rich my life would become with my may'ezza, my sweet Bel, by my side.
COIN
Ahhh,my work here was done. Remi and Bel were fun to play with, although I was still a bit salty with a certain fae. He tried selling me to a pawn shop. A pawn shop! The audacity. He was lucky I decided to come back to his wolf after that.
But now it was time to find someone else to mess with. I'd had my eyes on Yarrow and Folly for a while… they seemed like they might be fun to tease.
Off I go to another world. Another day, another fae to torment—I mean help. I loved to help, of course. Yarrow and Folly, here I come! Brace yourselves…
Bound to the Wild Fae
Thankyou to everyone who read The Wolf's (Un)Lucky Fae! I had so much fun diving back into the Ellwood/Brinnswick world, and I hope you enjoyed it too.
