Epilogue - Liz
I take a deep breath, the scent of fresh flowers and pine filling my lungs as I look around our backyard. It”s been transformed into a magical scene. White roses and baby”s breath adorn every available surface, intertwined with ivy and twinkling fairy lights. A rustic wooden arch stands at the far end of the yard, overlooking the garden where our friends and family have gathered. The breeze catches the edges of my dress, and it billows out around me as I take slow steps.
Today is one of the happiest days of my life. A day I never thought would come for me. And yet, here I am, surrounded by everything I could possibly want. My entire family and pack are here with me.
Leah looks radiant in a floor-length champagne-colored gown. She”s holding a bouquet of white lilies and roses, the perfect complement to her dress. ”You look stunning, Liz,” she says softly, her voice filled with warmth.
”Thank you, Leah,” I reply, my fingers nervously adjusting the bodice of my ivory lace dress. The gown hugs my curves perfectly, the intricate beading sparkling in the fading sunlight. My veil trails behind me like a shadow on the ground, and a silver necklace hangs from my throat, accentuating my cleavage.
David, looking dapper in a charcoal suit, steps up beside me. His eyes are focused and serious, yet there”s a hint of mischief lurking there. ”Fisher”s a lucky guy,” he comments, offering me a reassuring smile.
”I”m the lucky one,” I whisper, feeling a wave of emotion wash over me. I”m about to marry the man I love, the man who”s stood by me through thick and thin. The past few months have been a whirlwind of emotions, but today is about new beginnings, a chance to create happy memories to replace the ones tainted by the past. We may technically already be married, but today, we do it again by choice.
The soft strains of a violin fill the air, signaling the start of the ceremony. Leah gives me one last hug before taking her place beside the arch. David squeezes my hand, his eyes locking onto mine for a brief moment before he heads to his position next to Fisher.
As I take a deep breath and step forward, my eyes meet Fisher”s. He”s standing at the front, looking breathtakingly handsome in a tailored navy suit. His eyes, those deep pools of green that always seem to see right through me, are filled with love and tenderness.
A wave of warmth washes over me as we lock gazes. For a split second, there”s nothing else but us, just like all those years ago we first met. It feels like only yesterday since we were separated, but at the same time, it seems like it”s been forever.
We share a private moment together before Ram calls the ceremony to order. ”Today, we come together to renew our vows,” he says solemnly, his gray eyes softening as he takes in everyone gathered here. ”This day marks a new beginning for you and your families—a fresh start and the promise of a brighter future. And while this renewal may be symbolic, it also means something much more important to each of you.”
He pauses and nods at Fisher and me. ”Fisher, Liz, would you like to take a moment to share some words?”
Fisher turns to me, a smile lighting up his face. ”Liz, I know I”ve made mistakes in the past, but they don”t define who I am or how I feel about you,” he says earnestly, his gaze locked onto mine. ”I love you so much, and I always will. We”ve been through a lot together, and now we have even more to look forward to. You”re my family and my future. As long as we stick together, nothing can ever come between us. I promise to do everything I can to keep you safe and happy. I promise to fight for you, even if it means fighting myself.”
Tears fill my eyes as I listen to him, and a sense of calm washes over me. I take his hands into mine, interlacing our fingers, and give them a firm squeeze.
”You”ve changed my life in so many ways, Fisher,” I reply, gazing back at him with all the love in my heart. ”From that very first day when we met, there was something different about you. You were special, and I knew it from the moment I laid eyes on you. You made me see things differently. And now I”m the luckiest wolf alive because I get to spend the rest of my life by your side, growing old together.”
Finally, the moment comes when we exchange rings. The bands, simple yet elegant, symbolize our eternal bond. As Fisher slips the ring onto my finger, I feel a sense of completeness, a knowing that I”ve found my home, my safe haven.
”With this ring, I thee wed,” he whispers, his voice husky with emotion.
”With this ring, I thee wed,” I echo, my heart overflowing with love.
The officiant pronounces us husband and wife, and Fisher leans in to kiss me. It”s a kiss filled with passion, love, and the promise of forever. As our lips meet, I feel fireworks explode in my chest, a confirmation that we”ve made the right choice. That our love is stronger than any obstacle we might face.
As we pull away, hand in hand, I look around at our small gathering of friends and family. Their smiles are genuine, their eyes filled with happiness for us. It”s a new beginning for both of us, a chance to write our own happily ever after.
And as the sun sets and reception ends, I know this is just the beginning of our beautiful journey together. With Fisher by my side, I”m ready to face whatever the future holds, knowing that our love will guide us through it all.
Once our friends have left and we”re left alone in our bedroom, Fisher starts undoing the buttons of my dress. I”m bursting at the seams to tell him the secret I”ve been holding onto for the last couple of weeks, and I reach out and take his hands, stopping his movements.
”I have a surprise for you,” I say, my voice trembling with joy and nervousness.
His eyes, those beautiful green pools, twinkle with curiosity. ”Oh? What is it?”
Taking a deep breath, I look up into his eyes, my heart pounding in my chest. ”I”m pregnant, Fisher.”
He bursts into laughter, a rich, hearty sound that echoes in the quiet night. ”I knew it!” he exclaims, his eyes shining with happiness. ”My wolf sensed it days ago. I could smell the change in you.”
Tears of joy fill my eyes as I gaze at him, overwhelmed by the love and excitement radiating from him. ”You knew? And you didn”t say anything?”
”I wanted to wait for you to tell me, to see that beautiful sparkle in your eyes when you shared the news,” he replies, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. ”This is amazing, Liz. A new chapter for us. A new life.”
A radiant smile spreads across my face as he wraps his arms around me, lifting me off the ground in a tight embrace. We both laugh, caught up in the sheer happiness of the moment, our hearts beating in sync.
”I can”t believe we”re going to be parents,” I whisper against his ear, my voice filled with wonder and awe.
”We”re going to be amazing parents,” he murmurs, his lips brushing against my forehead. ”And our child will be surrounded by so much love from our family and from our pack. We”ll give them the world, Liz.” As he sets me back down, he cups my face in his hands, his gaze filled with emotion. ”I love you, Liz. And I love our little miracle growing inside you.”
”I love you, too, Fisher,” I reply, my eyes welling up with tears of happiness. ”And I can”t wait for all the new memories we”ll create together, as a family.”
With one hand on my stomach, we share another passionate kiss, sealing the promise of our new future. We may have had our ups and downs, but no matter what comes our way, we”ll always face it together.
