Maxime
Please tell me, what's the deal between Jess and Eliott? They end up together, right?
Nash
Wait, are you reading First Love by Leslie Baumeister?!!!!
Maxime
It was on the list, wasn't it?
Nash
I just didn't think you'd actually read it.
Maxime
Me neither. But I wanted to see why it was one of your favorites. Already read Olivia, by the way.
Nash
:O
We have a lot to talk about.
Hayley
Have you finished? Please tell me you finished.
Beaumont
LOL. I'm on the last chapter. Give me a minute.
Hayley
Read faster so we can talk about it.
Maxime
So bossy. Stop texting me so I can actually read. I haven't mastered the art of doing two things at once yet.
Maxime
Okay, I'm done. That was good.
Nash
Good??? "Good" can't be the word you use after that ending. Amazing, fantastic, mind-blowing. Those are the correct choices, Beaumont.
Maxime
Fine. It was amazing. Eliott has set the bar high, though. How can anything be "swoonier" than his declaration of love at the end?
Nash
I know, right? "You and I are far from being perfect, but together, we'd give perfect a fighting chance." Swooniness overload 3 3
Maxime
It is pretty swoony.
Nash
Even Emz melts for that one. So that's saying something
Hayley
Sorry about tonight. How are you holding up?
Beaumont
Fine. Losing a game always sucks, but even a rookie like me knows you can't win them all. Coach was happy with my performance, though. So, that's something.
Hayley
Yes, I looked at your schedule, and you have A LOT of games scheduled. Plenty of chances for redemption.
Beaumont
Looking at my schedule now, are you?
Hayley
Don't read too much into it. I just wanted to see which ones I could make so you'd actually win. You know, since I'm your lucky charm and all.
Beaumont
That is true, Nash. I need you. The team needs you.
Hayley
Way to put pressure on a girl. I'll try to make most of the home games, but for the ones on the road, you're on your own.
Beaumont
Starting to take a liking to the game?
Hayley
It was kind of fun, I admit. Not a big fan of the slamming and the fighting, though.
Beaumont
Sorry to disappoint you, but that's a big part of hockey. Don't worry about me, Nash. I'm a tough guy.
Hayley
*eye-roll emoji*
Hayley
Did you get the Kindle app?
Beaumont
Shh. I'm reading.
Hayley
Which one?
Beaumont
Guess.
Hayley
The one where they're friends with benefits?
Beaumont
Nope. But that's definitely next.
Hayley
Look at you, having a Tbr pile!
Beaumont
What on earth is that?
Hayley
To-be-read pile. I'm proud to be the one curating it. Are you starting with the hockey one?
Beaumont
You know it. So far, most of what I've read is annoyingly inaccurate, but maybe they'll have some pointers. We lost again tonight.
Hayley
I saw :( I'm sorry. You scored a nice goal, though. But remember, it's still a romance novel, not a non-fiction book about hockey.
Beaumont
Gotcha. How are things with you? Decorating going well?
Hayley
It is. We're struggling to figure out what to hang above the desk for some reason, but the rest is pretty much done. It's eating me alive, though. As the designated decorator, I feel like I failed my girls. Anyway, I have to go. We're now putting the finishing touches on the store for our grand opening this Saturday. You'll be there, right?
Beaumont
Wouldn't miss it for the world.
