Chapter 16

16

I ’m reading on my bed when I hear a knock on the door. Looking up from my book, I see Alair poke his head in. He’s my guard for the day, but I didn’t want to be a bother, so I decided to stay in my room. An odd thing, me worrying about being a bother. Arching a brow, I ask, “ Yes , Alair ?”

He looks around the room before stepping inside. “ Why are you hiding out in here?”

I hold up my book. “ I’m not hiding; I’m reading.”

He gives me a cheeky grin before rushing across the room and jumping onto the bed beside me. I let out a squeal as I bounce. He jumps a few more times before finally landing on his butt.

I laugh and set my book down. “ Is there a reason you’ve disturbed my reading time?”

He gives me pitiful puppy-dog eyes as he whines, “ I'm bored, Eira !”

Shaking my head, I say, “ I thought you all had training today. That's why I stayed in my room, so no one had to guard me.”

He lets out a dramatic sigh. “ I don’t want to go to training. I want to have some fun!”

Knowing I’m about to get sucked into whatever scheme he has planned; I hop off the bed. Slipping on my house shoes, I turn to him with my hands resting on my hips. “ Alright , Alair , what did you have in mind?”

His eyes widen with excitement. “ Really ?”

I nod. “ You are my guard for the day, so you’ll need an alibi for whatever ill-thought-out plan you have concocted.”

He gasps as if offended. “ It is a very well thought out plan, I’ll have you know.”

Arching a brow, I ask, “ Who are you pranking?”

He gives me a skeptical glance. “ I’m not sure if I want to tell you yet. You will try to talk me out of it.”

I roll my eyes. “ If I can talk you out of it, then you aren’t confident enough in your plan to begin with.”

He hums. “ True .”

“ So who are we pranking?”

He looks around the room as if checking to see if anyone else is around. Then he crawls across the bed, so he’s in front of me and replies, “ Kasim .”

I grin widely. “ Oh yes. I’m totally in!”

He jumps off the bed, pumping his fist in the air. “ Yes ! I knew you would be my partner in crime.”

I shrug and follow him out of the room. “ I’m always down to mess with Kas .”

He smirks. “ I’ll keep that in mind. You may regret saying that later.”

I shrug. “ A problem for another time.”

He laughs, and we make our way down the hallway. We run into a few of the others as we head to Kas’s room, but they think nothing of our mischief. Though , Rev gives us an arched brow as if he can feel our mischievous energy.

I shoot him a grin, and Alair mockingly salutes him before grabbing my hand. As we turn the corner, he whispers, “ Are you ready for some fun, Little Fox ?”

“ Little Fox ?”

He opens Kasim’s bedroom door with a grin. “ You are going to be my partner in crime, which means, you need a nickname. What’s better than a cheeky fox?” He tugs on my hand, pulling me closer. His lips brush my ear, sending a shiver down my spine as he says, “ My sly fox. Here to capture our hearts and minds.”

I feel my cheeks flush as I whisper, “ I find it hard to believe I’ve stolen your heart and mind.”

He pulls away, snickering. “ Then you haven’t been paying close enough attention, Little Fox .” He starts to search the room while dragging me along. “ Now , what to do to cause optimal mischief?”

Glancing around the room, I can tell that Kasim clearly likes his stuff organized, almost obsessively so. “ We could rearrange a bunch of his stuff?”

Alair tosses me a wide grin. “ Yes !” he says excitedly as he turns back to the room and begins moving things around.

Shaking my head and laughing, I start to do the same. A few minutes pass, and I think I’ve done a pretty good job of rearranging his stuff when the sound of glass shattering behind me makes me freeze.

Turning around, I see Alair staring down at the floor with wide eyes. “ What did you break?”

His eyes meet mine as I realize one of the few lights in Kas’s room lies shattered on the floor. I have a feeling this practical joke is not going the way he planned. He points to the broken glass and asks, “ Did you see that?”

Usure if he’s serious or not, I arch a brow. “ Um …”

He shakes his head, then grabs my hand and drags me out of the room. “ The correct answer is no; no, you did not. Now walk faster, Little Fox !”

Laughing , I try to keep up with his quick pace. “ Why are we rushing?”

“ Kas is due back from training any minute. We need to be far from here by then.”

I can’t stop giggling as he nods to each of the guards when we rush by. He looks over his shoulder, holding a finger to his lips. “ Shh . Stop giggling! You are going to give us away.”

I cover my mouth to dampen the sound, but I can’t stop when I hear Kas yell, “ Who the fuck was in my room?”

Alair gives up on his attempt at being sneaky and takes off running, dragging me behind him as we try to get away from Kas . “ He’s going to know it’s us if you keep giggling!” he whisper-yells.

“ S - Sorry ,” I say as I try to stop.

He looks over his shoulder and grins. “ It’s worth it to see that smile on your face, though.”

My cheeks warm with his words. Seeing his smile and hearing him laugh makes it hard to believe that he is a villain. Are they really the villains? Or is that what I have been led to believe, I ponder. “ Where are we going, Alair ?”

My question is answered a moment later when he throws open the door to my room and pulls me inside. He slams the door behind him, leaning against it and trying to catch his breath. The air in the room grows thick when his eyes meet mine, and I see them shift to black.

“ Alair ?” I ask, breathless. I’m not sure if it’s from running or the hunger I see in his eyes.

“ I can see your nipples peeking through your dress, Little Fox ,” he says hungrily.

I look down to find that my nipples are indeed hard and easy to make out through my dress. I’m not sure where my boldness comes from, but when my eyes meet his, I smirk. “ Our game was fun. Would you like to play another?”

He licks his lips as he pushes away from the door, stalking closer to me. “ What do you have in mind?”

Dax had said they were all mine. That I belonged to all seven of them. Maybe I should start enjoying my time here and stop fighting what my body craves. That doesn’t mean I’ll give them my heart… just my body. I endured years of the king and his men using me for their pleasure; I think it’s time I take some pleasure for myself. Taking a deep breath, I rip my dress over my head, leaving myself bare before Alair .

“ Catch the fox,” I taunt before taking off toward the bathroom.

There’s a growl and, before I’ve even made it a few steps, his arms encircle me from behind. He nips my neck, and I can’t suppress my moan. He slips a hand between my legs and hums against my neck. “ Seems I’ve caught myself a fox. Now , what should I do with her?”

Slipping my hands up behind me, I tangle my fingers in his wavy, dark locks. I let out a needy moan when he slips a finger through my folds. He nips at my ear and growls, “ What should I do with my fox?”

“ Please her. Please your fox,” I reply breathlessly.

His chest rumbles. “ Now that sounds like a fun game. But let’s make it even better.” He flips me in his arms before pushing me up against the wall. He kneels on the ground in front of me, his black eyes looking up to meet mine. “ How many times do you think I can make my fox come while screaming my name?”

“ Alair ,” I pant.

He grabs one of my legs, lifting it and putting it over his shoulder, his breath tickling my hot center. “ Let’s see how long it takes for you to beg for my cock.”
