Chapter 6
"You really read everything in my diary, huh?"
"I'm just ticking off boxes to impress you."
She frowns. "You don't have to do that anymore. I'm already yours."
This pulls a smile from me, and I take her hand and brush my lips along her knuckles. "I disagree. I promise to never stop trying to impress you … not until my last breath."
Katherine sits beside me, threading her fingers with mine, a smile playing on her wine-red lips.
We're in my car with the top down, parked in a prime spot at a drive-in cinema. There are about two rows of cars before us and, of course, the towering screen. Katherine darts her eyes around, excitement on her face. She's like a kid in a candy store at Christmas.
I told her we'd go watch a movie, and she donned a short halter dress and open-toe sandals. She normally wears her hair up, but this time, I asked her to let it loose around her shoulders.
Grabbing the pillow from the backseat, I slide it between her and the seat before draping a cozy fleece blanket over her. She snuggles beneath it, reaching her hand into the bucket of popcorn by the dashboard.
We're about halfway through the movie when Katherine reaches over to share her blanket and tosses the other half across my lap. She snuggles closer, laying her head on my shoulder while my fingers toy with the ribbons on her waist.
I don't really understand what the movie's about. Two strangers meet on a train and spend hours talking. That's it. That's the whole plot, I think. I mean we're almost halfway through. At least I hope so.
I've already mentally tapped out, my focus on some things that need attention at the security firm, when I feel a small hand rest on my crotch. A shock of heat jolts me, and an almost insatiable hunger roars from my chest.
My cock immediately stiffens and pushes against my zipper.
I grit my teeth. "What are you doing, cupcake?"
She raises her eyes to me, wide with fake innocence but with a mischievous glint. "What do you mean? I'm not doing anything."
Even as she speaks, her fingers deftly work to unbutton my pants and slide my zipper down. I toss my head back, gazing at the star-filled sky, feeling lightheaded because all my blood must have rushed south.
Katherine keeps her eyes on the screen, but she slips her hand inside my boxers and wraps her fingers around my stiffness.
Fuck.
When she lets go of my cock, I'm almost disappointed but not before she swivels her head to look behind us and swiftly scrambles across the center console to sit on my lap.
Katherine pulls the blanket around us. From the outside, we look just like every couple here snuggling with each other. What they can't see is Katherine tugging her panties down and sinking her pussy onto my cock.
Jesus Christ.
"Don't move," she hisses.
As if I can do anything. I'm trapped between her and the seat, and if I move my hips, what we're doing is gonna be obvious to anyone staring hard.
When she sheathes me, she lets out a small whimper.
Katherine is a lot smaller than me, so my body covers hers from the cinema-goers behind us. I drape an arm across the passenger headrest just so I can add more cover for her.
With both arms on the steering wheel, she begins to move. She rotates her hips and bounces lightly on my lap. At first, I try to keep my hands to myself, but my brain gets fogged up by lust.
My left hand reaches under her dress and slides upward until I can grab her tit. This somehow turns her on because she grinds on me like she needs that orgasm so badly.
Can't leave my girl hanging.
With my right hand, I slide it between her legs to stroke her clit. In less than ten seconds, her nails dig into my forearm and her muscles lock up as she tries to stop herself from shaking like a leaf.
That pushes me over the edge.
The next thing I know, spots of color dance behind my eyes, and I'm spilling my seed inside her, coating her walls.
The sounds from the movie, the hum of conversations, and even the occasional rumble of engines disappear. The only thing I hear is our rapid breathing and my pounding heart.
My God, I can never get enough of her.
Two hours later, she changes into a black shimmery dress with the back so low it barely covers anything, but it makes her ass look so good. She tosses her sandals and exchanges them for black stilettos.
It amazes me how she can go from comfy to sultry just like that.
Katherine clasps a bracelet around her wrist and swipes another red lipstick. She smacks her lips together and throws me a smile over her shoulder. "You like it?"
I shove my hands in my pockets and let my gaze roam her body. "I prefer you out of it."
She caps her lipstick tube and drops it into her purse. "Do you like it?"
"Yes."
"Can I wear it to the club?"
I slump onto the sofa and fold my hands across my chest. "Cupcake, why are you asking me? You want it, you wear it."
"You won't get mad?"
"For a dress? No. I mean, that looks more like an oversized t-shirt, but yeah sure. I'll be with you the entire time, so unless someone wants to get their fingers broken, all the creeps are gonna steer clear from you."
"Ha. Will you dance with me?"
Without hesitation, I shake my head. "No, but I'll stand behind you to keep you safe."
Katherine pouts and slides onto my lap, looping her arms around my neck. "Dance with me."
"No, cupcake."
"You're no fun."
"That's not what you said last night."
I should've known better than to think I'd ever win against her. Sure, she doesn't force me to dance, but as I sip some kind of disgusting concoction called a mocktail, Katherine raises her arms and grinds her ass against my cock.
Good thing no one can see the increasing bulge in my pants.
Someone taps my shoulder and tips a beer bottle to point at Katherine. The music is so loud it's giving me a headache, so he moves closer to my ear to say, "Buddy, how can you just stand there? If I were you?—"
He drops the bottle when I grab his collar and pull him to me. "Continue that sentence and the next drink you'll be drinking is your own blood."
He stumbles backward and raises both palms. "Sorry. Sorry."
This is why I refuse to drink even an ounce of alcohol here. I need to keep my head with me all the time. I have to be on guard. I can't have anything messing with me … well, except Katherine, who seems to enjoy throwing me off-guard.
On our way home—my home to be exact, the real one and not the rented apartment across from hers—we drive in comfortable silence. I steal glances whenever I can as she leans her folded arms over the open window and rests her cheek on them, closing her eyes and humming.
Her face is upturned to the sky, the wind tousling her hair, a contented smile on the corner of her lips.
As we near the cul-de-sac where my two-story mid-century modern home sits, Katherine extends her hand to feel the cool night breeze, her fingers trailing delicately through the air.
The car glides to a stop in front of the house, and I shut off the engine, hearing nothing but the sounds of nature. This is exactly why I chose this place. The serenity it offers is unmatched. I can stay at home and forget the world.
She turns to me with a grin. "What are we waiting for out here?"
With my heart going over a hundred beats per minute, I turn to face her, taking her hand and planting a kiss on it. "I need to ask you something, cupcake."
She raises her eyebrows and tilts her head to the side. Man, she's so unreal. I can't even count the number of hours I spend in a day thinking about her, picturing her face in my head, and coming up with a brand new way of making her smile.
I cannot screw up this moment.
"I never believed in love until I saw you, cupcake. I thought it was for the weak, for those who aren't strong enough to be independent. I was wrong, so damn wrong. When I laid my eyes on you, I was sure I found the one I wanted to grow old with. For a moment, I thought you felt the same. That was until I realized you couldn't even see me clearly."
Katherine chuckles and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Katherine, will you marry me? Will you give me a chance to make you happy?"
Tears spring to her eyes, and she blinks them back rapidly. Slowly, she nods and beams. "I'm already happy, but yes, Kieran. I'll marry you."
I take out the small box from my pocket and open it, showing her the diamond ring before slipping it onto her finger.
"I love you, cupcake."
"I love you too, Kieran."
Katherine Knight. It does have a nice ring to it.
