Chapter 58

Chapter Fifty-Eight

GREY

I lift my hips when he tells me.

I open wider when he urges me.

I take more when he fills me.

And through it all, I realize I still can't find the end of my love for him.

This is where I was meant to be. Right or wrong, I get to live in a world where I can love and be loved.

It's magic. Pure magic.

Zane wraps his hands tighter around my thighs. Our past encounters did not prepare me for this. His wrist is healed now, and what he could do to my body with one hand was just a taste of what he can do with two.

He pushes my legs apart even further. The glorious sweep of his tongue sends flames spreading like wildfire across my skin.

My fingers twist tighter into the sand of the mountain. When I lift my filthy hands to dig in his hair, my palms are muddy, sand having mingled with my sweat.

"Zane…" His name rips out of me. Is this how he plans to kill me? Will we be buried together, naked limbs intertwined and faces frozen in carnal grimaces.

I moan, grabbing at his hair, the sand, the stars.

But he doesn't stop.

His onslaught is endless.

I don't know if I can survive the night. What number is this? I've lost track of how many times he's wrung pleasure from me.

He's inhuman.

A monster.

And yet I find myself spread eagle before the monster again, begging for more through kiss-swollen lips as every part of me winds tight.

I'm completely at his mercy.

Usually, that would scare me, but instead I'm invigorated.

I yank on his hair, my grip tight enough that he can feel my desperation. "Please."

Zane groans a command in my ear before he drags me in place, and finally delivers mercy. His fingers dig into my hips, his grip on my body almost punishing. His dark hair falls in his eyes, limp with sweat. His mouth whispers filthy words in my ear before those words turn to filthy, hot kisses.

I fall apart beneath his hands, exploding with a mind bending cry that he inhales like oxygen. It's a blissful euphoria that makes me weightless. I'm a feather carried on the wind until his arms close around me, anchoring me back to earth.

I'm still boneless as I come back to myself.

Zane cradles my face and delivers a soft, loving kiss on my lips. He pulls back, watching my face. I shiver. Now that he's not on top of me, I can feel the mountain winds wrapping around my naked body.

"You with me, tiger?" Zane asks, sitting up and pulling me between his legs. The wind stops at his back and I hunker in.

Cradled against his chest, it feels a bit warmer but the blanket is a sticky mess and it makes it hard to find a comfy spot to sit.

When Zane sees me scooting my butt around, he plucks me up like I weigh nothing and sets me on his lap. Next, he grabs his dress shirt and spreads it over me like a jacket.

"Thanks." Looking up at him, I ask, "Aren't you cold?"

He shakes his head. "Not really."

But he's not Superman and if he isn't cold yet, he will be soon. I turn the dress shirt sideways and wiggle back against him so it can at least cover some of his body.

"You don't have to do that," he says, burying his face in my neck. Every breath from his nose tickles the fine hair at my nape.

"It's okay. Your shirt can fit us both."

"Can it?" he asks lazily.

"Yeah. See?" I unfold it and marvel at the breadth of the shoulders and the length of the sleeves. "It's a good thing you're big."

I freeze the moment the words leave my lips.

Although I can't see him, I can feel Zane's smile against my skin.

I groan. "Don't?—"

"That's what she said," he teases lightly. Twisting his head, he presses a kiss to my ear. "The ‘she' in question being my wife."

My chest pulls tight when he calls me that. "I'm your wife."

"That's right." He nuzzles his nose into my shoulder.

"And you're my husband."

"Not sure if you've noticed, but it's been that way for a while," Zane says with a yawn.

"It feels like we just started dating."

"I'll make sure you feel that way even when your hair is grey and your teeth are falling out," he promises.

I laugh softly. "You think you'll have this much stamina when your teeth are falling out?"

"I might have my teeth for longer. I am six years younger than you."

I groan. "Don't remind me."

"As long as you don't say ‘thank you' like you're paying me for the service, I'll do what I have to do in our nursing home bedroom."

I snort-laugh.

Zane joins me.

I twist around to watch the night view, and something digs into the underside of my neck. Curious, I dip my fingers into his shirt pocket. My breath stills when I see the silver chain with both our wedding rings looped in it.

"Did you carry this around with you?" I gasp.

"Every day."

My eyes find his. "Even that night at the club? With those girls?"

Panic tightens his lips. "Nothing happened that night. It's no excuse, I know. I drank too much and took that video like an idiot. I even got into a fight. Got my butt kicked too. Finn and Sol had to scrape me off the pavement and take me home."

"Why did you get into a fight?" I arch both eyebrows.

"Because a girl tried to get me to leave with her."

"And why didn't you?"

He looks me right in the eyes as if he wants me to see his sincerity. "She wasn't you."

My heart flips. I lean over to kiss him when both our phones start ringing.

Zane hands me my phone.

We both check our messages.

"It's Dutch," Zane says, showing me the message.

"It's…" I stare at the thousands of notifications. "The world. Wow. That's a lot of new followers."

"You are now, officially, married to a member of The Kings," he points to himself.

"Eh." I make a so-so gesture.

"And you blew up the reputation of the governor of our entire state."

"Huh." I pause. "I guess I did."

Zane laughs, kisses me on the forehead. "Come on. Let's go home."

He helps me find all my clothes. Well, all except for one of my shoes. Then, my husband kneels in front of me, laces up his giant loafers on my feet and helps me on his bike.

He's the one who rides—barefoot—all the way back home.
