Epilogue

Dyna

Dyna, Maitland, Alaric, Eli, and Gwyneth sat around the hearth at Duart Castle. "Do you think they'll marry after all they've been through?" Dyna asked.

Maitland said, "I think Thane and Tamsin will be married within six moons. After the trauma each one has been through, they have to learn to trust again. Not an easy thing to do. Once that happens, they'll marry. The important piece is that I don't think Alana shows any negative effects from the evil woman who cared for her. She is a sweet little thing."

Gwyneth said, "Don't think it can't come out later in life, but I agree with you. I think Tamsin's goodness overpowered the bad in Alana's life."

The door banged open, and Eli hopped out of her seat. "Spit and slime, Grandsire! Stop. Banging. The. Door!"

Logan stepped inside, glared at his granddaughter, then stepped back out, closed the door, and opened it quietly. "Does this suit my bossy granddaughter?"

Eli laughed and said, "Aye, my thanks to you, Grandpapa. Now come inside and tell us what you've learned."

He came in with a sigh, moving over to take a chair next to his wife. "Gwynie, who raised our granddaughter to be so bossy and stubborn?"

Gwyneth rolled her eyes and ignored him.

Logan continued, "I didn't learn much—only one thing. Word was we brought a healer and faeries to Duart Castle. No names have been mentioned. But one of the faeries is supposed to grant wishes. A green faery."

Dyna sat forward, her eyes wide. "The green maiden?"

"Which one?" Eli asked. "Who is the green maiden? Is it Lia?"

Logan raised his arms in question. "What the hell is a green maiden? That is what I'd like to know."

Eli sat back, both hands cupping her cheeks. "Oh my."

"What is it?" Alaric asked.

"The green maiden. Doesn't she grant wishes? Something of that nature?"

"That could be, but I don't know why anyone would think we have a green faery," Logan said.

"But we might," Eli said quietly, looking from one face to the other to see if it had dawned on anyone else.

"What?" Gwyneth asked.

Eli looked to Dyna. "You heard her."

"What the hell, Eli? Out with it," Logan demanded.

Dyna said, "Calm down, Logan. When we first met Lia, she asked us if we had any wishes."

Eli bolted out of her chair and hopped in the same spot three times. "Oh…."

"What?" Alaric shouted, standing next to her.

"I told her I wished for my grandmother to come back to me. That I missed her so much. That I wanted both my grandparents here."

Logan snorted. "So, what does that mean?"

"You're both here. She granted my wish! Lia is the green maiden!"

Logan shook his head. "We were already here. You just hadn't caught us yet. That doesn't mean that Lia is the green faery, or maiden, or whatever. She didn't make us appear, Eli. But I do know one thing. Lia is not Magni's sister."

"How do you know that?" Eli asked.

"I can't say. But she's not. There's something different about the lass, and I believe she's the one they're after," Logan replied.

Gwyneth said, "We may never find out who or what she is, but I know one thing for certain."

"What?" Maitland asked.

"This isn't over."
