Epilogue
‘Wow, check out the view.'
Cindy pressed her face against the glass pod of the London Eye, captivated by the incredible view of the city below them.
‘Amazing, huh?' Liza slung an arm around Cindy's shoulders and squeezed, her heart full to bursting.
Seeing her sister's wonder as they visited every popular tourist site—the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral, Kew Gardens, Westminster Abbey—sharing in Cindy's joyful exuberance, made for precious memories.
‘Sure is.' Cindy tore her awestruck gaze away from the view long enough to glance at Wade. ‘Thanks for allowing me to tag along, Wade. You're the best.'
‘No worries, kiddo.' He dropped a kiss on the top of Cindy's head and Liza's heart flip-flopped. Could she love this guy any more than she already did?
He didn't treat Cindy as an adjunct to their relationship, he included her in it, and his affection for her sister was something Liza was thankful for every day.
‘Hey, what about me?'
Liza's fake pout made Cindy roll her eyes. ‘You were the best, until you left me out of your book.'
Liza winced. ‘We've talked about this and you know why I did it.'
‘Yeah, yeah, you were being a helicopter sister, hovering over me, I get it.' Cindy glanced at Wade and winked. ‘How you put up with her neuroses, I'll never know.'
Wade laughed and held up his hands. ‘I'm staying out of this sisterly battle, because I happen to think you're both the coolest women on the planet.'
Cindy leaned in close to Liza and murmured, ‘Suck up,' loud enough for Wade to hear, and they laughed.
‘I can see you two making those obnoxious lovey-dovey eyes at each other, so go over there.' Cindy made a shooing motion. ‘And leave me to savour this incredible view in peace.'
‘Damn, you're bossy,' Liza said, leaning down to give Cindy a hug before moving to the other side of the pod with Wade.
When he opened his arms she happily moved into his embrace, and brushed a soft kiss against his lips.
‘You're incredible, you know that?'
He smiled and nodded at Cindy. ‘So I've been told by your incredibly astute sister.'
‘Well, I'm telling you again.' Liza snuggled tighter, content in the knowledge there was no better place to be than Wade's arms. ‘The way you put this trip together, checked out disabled facilities at all the places we've visited, did a renovation on your apartment for Cindy to stay. Not to mention pulling together the digital companion novel to my biography highlighting cerebral palsy and the needs of carers to raise awareness…'
She stood on tiptoe and whispered in his ear. ‘Remember how I was scared you'd leave me one day? Forget it, babe, because I'm going to be glued to your side for life.'
He laughed and hugged her tight. ‘Make that a promise and you've got yourself a deal.'
