Chapter Thirty-Nine
Kiandra
We were back in our intimate nest, Cartan knotted to me, and I cherished the opportunity to explore his taut and warm skin, while he leisurely toyed with my hair, gently tracing my nipple with a strand, keeping me in a heightened state of arousal. He appeared utterly captivated by me and the way I responded to these subtle caresses, but how could I not react? Every gesture, every touch from him sent waves of pleasure coursing through my body, and I couldn't help but moan and cry out when he fucked me.
However, amid this tranquil moment, an important revelation weighed on my mind.
"I learned something new today," I confided in him.
"Did you study the Old Language?" he inquired.
"No, I was weaving baskets. I'm still terrible at it. Mara always takes over," I admitted, eliciting a chuckle from him.
"But that's not what I meant. I think I may be carrying an Alpha," I whispered, placing his hand on my stomach. His expression remained calm, a serene smile gracing his lips.
"You don't seem surprised," I observed.
"I had a suspicion," he revealed. "I noticed you becoming unsettled whenever I wasn't in contact with you. Alphas emit a more assertive energy, and it can confuse your Omega senses."
His insight struck a chord within me. I had indeed felt more agitated than usual, which allowed me to meet Cartan's gaze without hesitation.
"The first true Alpha in a long time," he murmured, his hand gently caressing my stomach. I leaned closer to him, our breaths mingling, and I felt his body tremble beneath my touch. I knew he yearned to mate with me once more, but his knot remained securely fastened.
"Others may not see it or may even deny it, but I do," I whispered.
"See what?" he asked.
"Something that sets you apart from the others," I told him.
"Having an Omega?" he queried.
I chuckled softly. "No, it's something deeper within you. You've not only survived immense brutality but also recognize the significance of unity and tradition. While the other High Alphas find you lacking, something tells me that if you were to lead your entire clan and depart, you would flourish. That's not just power. It's the mark of a true Alpha who knows how to care for his pack properly."
Cartan's eyes widened slightly, revealing his intrigue. He reached up to cup my cheek, and I hummed at his touch.
"You're incredibly perceptive, my dear Omega," he whispered before claiming my lips in a tender kiss.
"My father valued peace, yet he was a fighter in his own right," I shared. "But he didn't need to conquer territory or assert dominance through brutality. His strength lay in maintaining peace. You exhibit the same trait."
"He was a true Alpha," Cartan murmured.
"He was. He believed my mother would be the last Omega on the island, but then he rescued her, and our family was blessed with four siblings."
"Indeed a true blessing."
The intensity with which he uttered those words set my heart racing, and I eagerly closed the gap between us, capturing his lips in a fervent kiss. As his knot slowly receded, allowing for movement, we once again became lost in the passionate embrace of our connection.
