Epilogue
Cerys
Isat looking through the newest file on my desk. Another hybrid who was having issues coming to terms with being an outsider in a world where humans weren"t always keen on monsters and monsters didn"t like hybrids. We were lucky to have found a village this welcoming to settle into. I decided to email this one to Serena to look at properly, as Cam would be back home today.
I sipped my coffee as I thought about how much I wanted him back here. Back in our bed. He"d said it was better that I didn"t know where he was going. He"d mentioned closure. I suspected he meant for me and what had happened to my parents. My only request was for no more killing. I'd never judge him for the choices he'd made, but it wasn't what I wanted. The rest was up to him. He"d nodded, and we"d left it at that. I trusted him to do whatever was best for me.
I pushed back on my chair and stood to head back into the main part of the house. The smell of freshly baked bread wafted around me, and I peeked into the oven. It looked perfect. Once we"d settled, I"d taken up baking. Cam had never had baked goods before, and it had been a revelation for him. He was especially taken with bread. On one occasion I swear his eyes had flashed red with desire for a loaf that I"d just pulled out of the oven.
I prepped the table with other nice snacks ready for him returning. The thought of him being back made my body tingle. I didn"t like too many days without him, and it had been nearly a week. The longest we"d been separated since escaping the prison. I tried not to think about that. About the chaos and the terrible things that happened. We had made it here now, which was all that mattered.
The door swung open and there he was.
"Cam!"
"My love." His voice was rough with what I knew was desire. He"d been as desperate to get back to me as I was to have him home.
I ran and jumped up into his arms. He held me tight and kissed me on the lips, gentle at first, but quickly full of intent and need. I wrapped my legs around him and ran a hand up his horns. I"d learned he liked that. Although it had been a surprise; I"d assumed he wouldn"t feel anything from them. But actually, they could be quite sensitive. He moaned into my mouth, and my body was instantly on fire. He pulled his mouth back from mine and I grumbled at him.
"They are in jail now. They paid for their crimes appropriately before I dumped them there. They felt encouraged to confess."
Tears welled in my eyes.
"Thank you. I… well…"
I couldn"t find the words.
"I know what it means to be able to move forward. I wanted to give you that. More than anything. You are my mate. My life. I don"t need anything else but you happy."
I kissed him deeply, and he set me down on the kitchen counter and ran his hands up my thighs and under my skirt.
"I suppose this is one of the few places we haven"t christened yet," I mused.
"Let's fix that."
"Yeah, I"d hate for this countertop to feel left out."
"It would be rude," he responded.
I giggled. It had taken time for him to relax enough to have this sort of casual moment. And I was a fair way along from the anxious woman who"d been frantically trying to find her friends and figure out what had happened to them. Once I knew they were safe, I invited them here and held them all as tightly as I could.
Cam lifted my legs up and pulled my panties off before bending down and running a warm tongue along my entrance. I shivered. This was almost my favorite part.
"I've missed your taste, my love."
He focused his attention to my clit and began what I knew was going to be a torturously long warm-up before he let me orgasm, never mind before he fucked me here. I just hoped he was done before the bread burned. After a few more minutes with his tongue, though, I"d forgotten the bread even existed, and as I came for the first time, I couldn"t have even told you my own name.
The End.
