22. Chapter 22

Chapter twenty-two

A fter shaking off her encounter with the rude mystery man in the library, Haven decided to find her way to her room. Thankfully only getting lost twice.

Currently, Haven was sitting at the desk in her room writing her mother a letter. She had no idea how or if it would ever get to her but she hoped someone here would help her find a way.

Dear Mom,

Hi, it's Haven. I wanted to let you know that I'm okay. I'm not lost or dead, I hope you aren't worrying too much. I know you'll probably never believe me, if this letter somehow even finds you, but before I went on that hike I believed that magical things could only ever happen in books.

Now, I'd have to believe that anything is possible because I'm living the impossible. Currently I am sitting at my desk in an actual castle after being told that I am somehow a fae princess. I know that it sounds crazy but I promise it's true. They told me that one or possibly both of my parents were secretly fae royalty that hadn't been able to live in this realm due to the rules used to create it long ago. I know you wouldn't have kept this from me but maybe dad had? Did you know? I won't lie and say that the thought of you guys lying to me for so long doesn't hurt but I'd rather have the truth than another lie.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I am safe and alive. I hope this letter gets to you, I miss you.

All my love, Haven.

Haven couldn't put even half of her feelings into words but she hoped that what she had written would be enough to end the worry she was sure her mom was experiencing. Whenever she saw Rea next she'd decided to ask if there was any way the letter could make it to her mother.

For now, Haven tucked it into her desk drawer and got up to prepare to take a nice long bath and go to bed. The events of the day had been stressful and her whole body screamed with every move she made.

After pouring some of the soap Rea had given her to help calm aches and pains into the bathtub, Haven stretched to undo the back straps on her gorgeous pink dress. Laying the dress across the small vanity stool by the sink, she sunk into the tub.

Haven moaned loudly when the heat from the water combined with the effects of the soap immediately began to soothe away the aches the day had caused. Luckily, Haven had lit the dark purple silencing candle as soon as she entered her room or else anyone within hearing distance would've heard the soft sighs and moans she continued to make as the magic of the water drew away all of her physical pains.

Rea had explained that most fae had supernatural senses like heightened hearing and smell so if you wanted anything kept private you had to find ways around it like the silencing candle. At the time, Rea had also told a story about her parents knowing exactly when she lost her virginity as a teen because she hadn't learned the spell to mask your scent yet. As soon as she had come home from hanging out with her girlfriend, her parents immediately called bullshit on the excuse Rea had given them as to where she was. At the time Rea told the story, Haven had turned beet red from the thought of having to go through something like that.

After what had to be at least an hour, the bath water finally turned cold, forcing Haven to get out and dry off. After doing so, Haven dressed in nothing but a loose tank top and underwear and climbed into bed.

Watching the night pass through the windows that made up the doors to the balcony, Havens thoughts turned to the dream she'd had the night before. Immediately the ache between her legs returned, just as strong as during the dream.

Trying to banish those feelings, Haven turned from the windows, shut her eyes and attempted to doze off as best she could to no avail. Minutes passed and the roar between her legs wouldn't settle. Haven had never experienced feelings of lust so strong before, not even in the past when she'd been in a relationship with someone.

Haven waited as long as she could, thinking about anything and everything to sway her mind from its current path, clothes, food, knives, even that terribly embarrassing story Rea had told her. Nothing worked. Another ten minutes went by before Haven finally gave into the pull and slipped her hand down her side under the covers.

She began to circle her clit and allowing the feelings and of the dream to engulf her. Almost immediately, Haven could feel herself building towards an orgasm. Blurred, dream-like scenes played out in her mind as Haven moved her underwear to the side so she could feel herself fully.

Moving a finger down to her entrance, Haven gasped as she felt how soaked she was. Sliding one finger and then two into herself, Haven released a loud moan. With her eyes shut, blurry images were still playing behind them. Broad shoulders and dark hair. She could almost feel the man from the dream towering over her like he was in the room with her.

Quickly, Haven moved her other hand down to move back and forth across her clit while the other pumped in and out. It didn't take more than a moment for Haven to feel the telltale signs of her orgasm. Crying out as she hit her peak, Haven's legs clamped together and shook just slightly.

Settling into the pillows as she came down from her high, the pictures in Havens head slowly became clear. A slight panic rose in her when she recognized the features staring back at her. The dark hair, the bourbon and whiskey kisses. The broad, slightly intimidating shoulders. As the image of his face became clear, Haven recognized him as the mystery man from the library.

Thoroughly unsettled, Haven pulled the blankets up over her head and pondered what the hell just happened. She'd had the dream before she ever ran into the man.

Wondering what this could mean, Haven found herself even more unsettled when no answers came to mind. She gripped the blanket tighter around herself and hoped there wasn't a fae who could read minds. She absolutely did not want this event getting out into the realm and she certainly did not want the asshole from the library to find out what she had done, even if she had not known exactly what she was doing while she was doing it, or rather, who she was thinking of while she did it.

Haven would just have to file the memory away in the embarrassing folder in her brain and try her best not to ever think about it again.
