20. Chapter 20

Chapter twenty

S he was finally here in the fae realm. He could barely believe it. This was something him and so many others had been preparing and hoping for, for quite some time. It had taken a lot to get to this point, he'd personally seen some of the sacrifices made to get to this point. And while his friends would never admit it, those sacrifices had left scars.

A nervous laugh erupted from him as he sat alone in his room. Her presence changed not just his life, but the future of everyone in their kingdom, possibly even the realm.

In another life, she would have been his worst enemy. While he may need to treat her that way, the tiny glimpse he'd caught of her through his window while she'd been touring the grounds told him everything he needed to know about his feelings towards her. These coming weeks were going to be hard, in more way than one. He prayed to whatever gods were left out there to give him the strength needed to do what was necessary.

He was already off to a bad start. Should he have sent her that note? Probably not, but he had to warn her. Now that she was here, things were beginning to happen. The forces currently in control were furious and he knew that if there was a way, they would kill her without a second thought.

He had to stop that from happening. She was their kingdoms only hope.
