Epilogue
Daxton
I stood in the doorway with a cup of coffee and smiled at the beautiful vision in front of me. Oscar was asleep in the gilder with Noah sleeping against his chest. My mate had been so worried about his ability to fall into parenthood, but he was the best dad to our little critter.
Doting. Attentive. Perfect.
I didn't want to disturb them, so I went back to my computer to finish following up on the latest list of names we'd procured.
There was still so much to do. So many leads to chase that seemed to go nowhere. But I felt settled down, like I could hone in on the most important name on the list without the fear of Oscar and our baby birth lingering over me. I was ready to really dig in.
Willy had mentioned a dark website that he came across, but he wasn't able to get very far with it. I decided to start there and see if I could make any progress. Everything I'd been doing wasn't getting us very far, so it was time to get creative.
After logging into a private VPN to mask my location, I created four social media profiles, two of men and two of women—one each of an alpha and an omega. Not knowing much about Rigg, I had no idea who he might gravitate toward, so I decided to cover my bases by catfishing him the old-fashioned way.
I bought a list of sexy posts that were guaranteed to get hits in my DMs and started posting on all the accounts. I felt silly doing it, but I had a good reason. This was life-or-death catfishing.
Several days passed with just the standard thirst-trap photos and ridiculous DMs that made Oscar and I roll over laughing when we read them together.
But after about a week, I noticed a new follower.
Someone who hadn't reached out on any of the profiles but who was following my male omega across several accounts. There were lots of followers on that particular profile, but what stood out was the username. Rigged4fun couldn't be a coincidence, right? Or maybe it was.
Either way, I followed him back.
Luck was finally on my side, and I got a DM from him.
You don't look like the usual omega I find on these sites.
Oscar was sitting beside me, and I glanced at him. "Maybe you should respond. You might have a better grasp of what to say."
He barked out a laugh. "You've met me, right? I have no game. I didn't have it when you met me, and I definitely don't have it now."
I rolled my eyes and grinned. "Fine." Maybe I'm not your average omega. Maybe I'm a little bit of everyone…
Oscar blew out a low whistle. "Well, if that isn't hard-core hinting, I don't know what is."
"Exactly. If he doesn't take this bait, I'll start a regular conversation and maybe we can at least become friends."
Just a few moments later, another message came back. Maybe I can buy you a drink sometime.
Maybe. Where do you live?
He was quick to respond. That was a good sign. I hoped. Oak Grove. You?
Not too far from there. I've been meaning to get out there to do some shopping. Saturday is pretty open for me.
This time, he didn't respond immediately, but when he did, I knew we were in. There's a bar called On Tap. I'll be there at 7 o'clock on Saturday. Before it gets too crowded. If you can make, let me know when you get there.
See you then.
All that calm and peace I had been feeling all week began to dissipate as I got nervous about what I had just signed us up for.
Oscar placed his hand on mine and squeezed it. "This is a good thing. He's probably scared and looking for answers, just the way you were."
I swallowed hard and nodded. "Yeah, we'll do it." I pulled his hand up to mine and kissed the back of it. "Together."
